Tyranitar - Question

Finally got my first Tyranitar from raid (77.8% IV) with 10/14/11 (HP/ATT/DEF) and she has Bite/Stone Edge. Is it worth to take her to the level 30 or should I try and get better one?

most people that comment this site are hardcore players, they will tell you to drop the T-tar and get a better one. "Bellow 90+% is garbage" xD
my answer: it depends how easy is for you to get 10km or t-tar raids. if it takes another 5month to get another one I think you should invest cause t-tar is very usefull in battles, generally.

Currently I have one 10km egg. When it comes to Larvitar I'm out of luck, apparently. Best one I hatched has exactly 80% IV. I'm sitting on 210 Larvitar candy. Considering that evolution costs 125 candy... guess I just keep on raiding those elusive Tyranitars. Thanks for input. :)

I agree with the comment before mine, I am a hardcore player Level 39 and yes most will say its garbage but it is still the MVP of the Legendary Birds in my opinion. Not as good vs. Raikou but still an excellent pokemon for you! I have 4 Level 30+ 2 with the Dark moves and 2 with stone edge.

Well, I'm late for birds to test T-tar out but there's Entei. Golem does good job as stand-in and there are some good, other alternatives so I'm in no rush. I'll power up that T-tar eventually but my focus will be getting better one. Thanks for sharing your opinion!

If you are in extreme and imminent need of one, do it.
I suggest you stop at level 27.5
Which is where Bite does the maximum possible damage to Mewtwo raid boss.

So far I managed pretty well without one, to be honest. I'll take that into consideration, thanks. :)

Unless it is really difficult for you to participate in raids, go for a better one. Last thing I did (which may be stupid to many eyes here): evolved a 14/14/14 (93%) larvitar instead of powering up a 91% T-Tar from a raid. A waste of candy? Yes. Will it save me time and stardust towards the future? Definitely.

Fortunately Tyranitar is the only non-legendary raid people are showing up for. What's done is done. Sooner or later you would evolve it anyway, I think. One extra T-tar can make a difference.

Personally, I would wait...

As I mentioned before, I got up to 540+ Larvitar candies before even getting my 1st Tyranitar...(was hatched 95%) so take your time. I've hatched 7 Larvitars...

You need sheer numbers with Level 4+ raids anyways so I wouldn't "waste" candies IMO to evolve a low IV one, especially when Tyranitar is still a raid boss...AND, you have to dump stardust in to get it to 27.5 or 30...

That's what I thought about waiting and seeing how things will go.

Patience is key. Especially when evolving any Pokemon now seems like a waste for me because of candy cost and/or potential, better moves for some Pokemon. I'll just keep playing with no pressure.

I am a hardcore player but I'm not an IV snob. However, your TTar is almost a worst case scenario as far as IVs, for a raid boss TTar. 10 attack is the lowest you can get, and the other stats aren't great.

The thing about raid battles is that they are accessible. If you want them, you can go get them. This is much different than before, when you never knew when you'd have another opportunity to catch a strong larvitar, or hatch a larvitar.

So why not just go hit up some more TTar raids? If you catch another TTar raid boss, there is a 95% chance it is better as far as IV.

(note - you did get a great moveset, but with TMs the movesets aren't as crucial)

In my relatively small city I can get 2, maybe 3 TTar's per day. Now I have reason to play since I got my first one. Hopefully my struggle when it comes to catching this particular raid boss has ended.

That's right. I'm glad it has great moveset. Probably I wouldn't even bother to change moves because of not so great IV. I'm not exactly swimming in TM's at the moment. Still that TTar is somewhat useful even at level 20.
