Soloing Machamp - easier than you think?

I don't know how many hours I have spent fretting over how I should assemble a team to take down Machamp solo. I have even walked two L28-30 Eevees with low IV's to make them into Espeons.

Well, today the day finally arrived. I had put together this team:

CP Level IV (A-D-S) Pokemon Fast Charge
2220 30 13-15-14 Gengar Hex Shadow Ball
2544 30,5 12-13-14 Espeon Confusion Psybeam
2406 30 12-13-1 Espeon Confusion Future Sight
2304 28 14-4-12 Espeon Confusion Future Sight
3063 30 15-14-15 Dragonite Dragon Tail Hurricane
2278 29 12-6-11 Alakazam Psycho Cut Shadow Ball

I even forgot that I was actually going to use an Exeggutor instead of the Alakazam, but it didn't matter. Anyway, I had been unsure about whether the team was strong enough.

The Machamp had Close Combat which surely made the fight easier.

Anyway, I had never anticipated just how easy it was. I played brainless attack-spamming with no dodging and the Espeons just ate Machamp alive. I finished Machamp off with 65 seconds left on the clock. 65 seconds! Only the first four attackers even entered the match, my Dragonite was very disappointed. Even as great as the Espeons were, I think I might have taken it with what I had before I evolved them.

To make matters even better, I fed Machamp a pinap and caught him with a first throw excellent throw and got a 84% (attack 15) Machamp with C/DP. An allround great raid. Surprised that nobody else showed up for this one.

EDIT: I didn't get a TM, but I did get a staggering 10 rare candy! Definitely a raid pass well spent! :-D

NEW EDIT: Been reading up on other people's experiences and have concluded that there was something off here. It shouldn't be possible with 65 seconds to spare with that team. Either there was another player that I somehow didn't see either in the lobby, in-game or IRL, or something buggy was going on. I certainly don't expect to be able to replicate it like this.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

I though that I could only solo Vaporeon (just level 31), because I don´'t have great Psy attackers and I don't want to evolve low IV eevees. However, seeing your team, I guess I could do it.

These are my strongest Psy attackers:

-Espeon 2556 Zen/FS
-Alakazm 2239 Con/Psy
-Exeggutor 2516 Con/Seed
-Exeggutor 2152 Es/Sol
-Exeggutor 2007 Con/Sol
-Exeggutor 1841 Es/Seed

What do you think?

Yeah, I would at least try it out.

If it is not strong enough, just do what I did and evolve a high level (never mind IV's) Eevee into an Espeon or two.

Thanks, I'm checking and I have 2 lvl30 eevees above average, with high attack. I think they should do as plan B.

Or maybe do it anyway? Unless you really need a high level version of one of the other Eeveelutions, Espeon is a great psychic glass canon!

Just now I just evolved a CP 750 Eevee randomly, and got a CP 2300 Jolteon with VS/TB.
If I read this earlier, I would have walked with him and evolved him to Espeon.

Definitely not enough. The only good psychic attackers I have now are Exeggutors, many of them don't even have 2 psychic moves.
I do have 2 Alakazams and a CP 950 Abra, I just need 30 more candies to evolve the Abra. Abra candies ain't a problem for me, though I need a lot of stardust.

I am surprised by how fast you won.

I have seen a video of FuNKyShO with an attacking team which should be slightly faster than yours and there is less than 20s remaining.

can you have a look at that video and try find what makes you faster:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7utyrbw-zw4

His Espeon's are the same than yours and his Alakazam should be faster than your Gengar-third Espeon.

He dodges?

But you are right. The difference shouldn't be that big. It's all a bit strange. It's also surprising that I only needed 4 glass canons with no dodging.

Maybe there was some RNG stuff going on that made my Machamp just not use his charge move very often?

I have just soloed a Machamp.

Won, 1 second left, my sixth Pokemon with no more life. I have not dodged at all. I do not see the point of dodging as you reduce your DPS.

Line up:
Alakazam 100% lvl 35.5 2701CP Confusion FutureSight.
Dragonite 89% lvl 35.5 3299CP Dragon Tail Hurricane
Exeggcutor 89% lvl 30 2465CP Extrasensory Solar Beam
Dragonite 40% 3039CP, lvl34.5 Dragon Tail Outrage
Flareon 89% 2682CP, lvl35.5 Fire Spin Overheat
Vapoeron 93% 2931CP lvl 35.5 water Gun HydroPump
Dragonite

I wanted to give it a try before optionally powering up another Alakazam (with only 84% IV), an Espeon (with sub-optimal moves) and the Exeggcutor.

LOL! I'm actually starting to doubt my own tale here. 65 seconds left on the clock just seems crazy. Maybe I got randomly lucky in some way. Maybe another player snuck into the match right before the window closed and I didn't notice it (unlikely, as I didn't see any other pokemon in the fight either and there were nobody else around). I don't know.

A spoofer? I haven't tried myself, but I plan to. It doesn't sound crazy that you made it. It may be just that you were lucky with the boss moves and it was easier than the Funky show video

Try it with DP on the raid boss. My god, talk about spamming the move!!

I got shafted today when i tried to solo one with DP, both times I did the raid the boss died (no health, and stopped attacking) but i had to just watch as the timer carried on ticking down and then it told me that i had timed out.

Needless to say i was fuming!!

Solo'ing Machamp with DP is a whole different ball game when compared to Close Combat. Congrats on your solo though :)

3030CP Dragonite - DT\Hu
3026CP Dragonite - SW\Hu
2460CP Alakazam - Con\Psy
2450CP Alakazam - PC\Psy
2563CP Espeon - Con\Psyb
2560CP Espeon - ZH\Psyb

On the first go with no dodging it went through all them and I had the chance to re-enter the fight and then it killed my 2472CP Con\Psyc Egg and almost killed my 2012CP Gengar SC\SludgeB before Machamp died with about 7-8 seconds left but apparently I timed out.

On the 2nd go (with the same team) with dodging DP i killed him with about the same time left but he only managed to kill 4-5 of my team

OP just bs!
Show me your video with 60 sec left!
I usually finished it with less than 20 sec.
My L30 Zam and Espeon dodge only charge move (if possible).

Oh, I'm definitely not BS-ing, but as I've written myself, I do find the results very strange. Something weird was going on.

To balance this one out I just wasted a pass battling a level 4 Rhydon with three other trainers and we couldn't take it out. We were levels 35 (me), 32, 27 and 23. Got close on our second attempt but not enough!

I'm surprised the Machamp didn't turn out to have 100% IVs in this tale.

I got so unlucky and got a BP/HS one, aka not Resistance to the moves.... he was killing my Pokemon left and right. really bad luck. Glad to hear you got a great Machamp and 10 Rare Candies, NICE!

Yeah as you've said this appears to be an aberration. I've soloed one with 25 seconds left but my team leads with
2925 Espeon ZH/FS
2788 Eggs C/P
3504 Dragon DT/O
Can't actually remember what I chose after that but it died on the 4th (probably 2500 eggs or 3000 dragon)

Dodged a few CCs but not many
