The system that folks are seeing now and rightfully unhappy about in their particular areas is the product of the lack of one feature that I talked about being a necessity over and over in all of the pre update discussions that we had here.
Coins should also be paid out for attacking gyms.
That way you can control you own earning and time invested.
The stronger players that are opening up the gyms for the tag along guys (bless em) will get a little extra for their time/potion investment.
Gyms will definitely be more active.
Best part is that I cannot come up with a downside as long as the payouts are relatively sane. With a 100 coin limit you may see less aggressive spoofing/botting activity. They will earn their coins and be gone. They all earned 100 coins a day before so exactly nothing changed except depriving you of any real ability to earn in their defended gym array is gone.
Why not do this? It's not like 100 coins a day...worth less than a dollar...and far less than anyone's time/gas expenditure just shakes the meta to the ground. Hell it doesn't even buy anything worth buying so I strongly doubt it would even have a negative impact on the bottom line in the long run. Folks that rarely spent but were used to a certain amount of coins may quit and the game entirely. Their expenditures although less frequent will be zero. Folks like me were spending anyway and 100 coins a day just keeps the game more interesting for me. It's nothing compared to what I have invested. With avenues open like raids I'll be spending plenty anyway and I doubt I will spend less but more likely more with a more active and rewarding gym system.
As to dust, I do not see why a greater payout for attacking opposing mons isn't a thing to but I'm not that aware of the numbers yet. Thoughts on that?
