Related to the never ending gym/coin discussion-A fix

The system that folks are seeing now and rightfully unhappy about in their particular areas is the product of the lack of one feature that I talked about being a necessity over and over in all of the pre update discussions that we had here.

Coins should also be paid out for attacking gyms.

That way you can control you own earning and time invested.

The stronger players that are opening up the gyms for the tag along guys (bless em) will get a little extra for their time/potion investment.

Gyms will definitely be more active.

Best part is that I cannot come up with a downside as long as the payouts are relatively sane. With a 100 coin limit you may see less aggressive spoofing/botting activity. They will earn their coins and be gone. They all earned 100 coins a day before so exactly nothing changed except depriving you of any real ability to earn in their defended gym array is gone.

Why not do this? It's not like 100 coins a day...worth less than a dollar...and far less than anyone's time/gas expenditure just shakes the meta to the ground. Hell it doesn't even buy anything worth buying so I strongly doubt it would even have a negative impact on the bottom line in the long run. Folks that rarely spent but were used to a certain amount of coins may quit and the game entirely. Their expenditures although less frequent will be zero. Folks like me were spending anyway and 100 coins a day just keeps the game more interesting for me. It's nothing compared to what I have invested. With avenues open like raids I'll be spending plenty anyway and I doubt I will spend less but more likely more with a more active and rewarding gym system.

As to dust, I do not see why a greater payout for attacking opposing mons isn't a thing to but I'm not that aware of the numbers yet. Thoughts on that?

I really like it!! It is a nice way to make gyms more active and reward those that take gyms down completely. And it fits even better now that prestige is not a thing and even more people will wait until someone else takes down enemy gyms just to have a "free spot", you just have to walk and leave the mon, no need even to stop a second to prestige 1 or 2k.

And dust should be always rewarded for battling gyms, let's say the game is 50% catch 50% battle just to make it easier for me to explain, why all dust has to come from catching? No way I can spend 50 berries per day feeding mon in gyms just to get 1k dust...it is not worth it at all at least for me, can't do it anyway because the lack of stops around.

This would increase the problem with spoofers for sure.
The new 20 gym hold limit is clearly a hit on spoofers, because they were going taking every possible gym they came across.
If attacking gets coins, the spoofer gym rampage
would be back in a blink, since defending for coins is not a sure thing anymore.

No it wouldn't. And what would it matter? Now you can take them back down and actually earn something. Heck in some areas there will be a problem where no one takes down gyms so no one earns anything. And they would only do it so much then they hit their cap and we could carry on earning by taking down what they took.

No system functions perfectly with spoofers. They need to be gone. But this system doesn't encourage them any more than the current one.

Under the current system they need to terrorize twenty gyms to earn anything in a high turnover area. In mine it would be a waste of time and resources for them.

Agreed. Players need some incentive to attack gyms in high turnover areas. As is, your Pokemon will come back home with 0 coins, and aside from costing you even more revives / potions, there is literally no point in assigning Pokemon to such areas...

On the other hand, Pokemon in low turnover may stay for more than 100 hours, and that's no better... This may even promote multi account, for the sole reason to get your coins...

I was somewhat worried when they announced the gym rework, and so far, my feeling is that I was right to be...

Anyway, all this is still hot. Though I am not happy about these changes right now, it may eventually turn out to be a healthier environment. Wait and see...

Think about this in the low turnover area.

It doesn't matter as much that you are vastly outnumbered by spoofers or whatever. You get to attack these new easier gyms and earn. Heck dominant teams are likely to let them wear down a bit just to encourage them falling. Meanwhile after the gym is taken the other team can earn by taking it back. It's a good circle. And no spoofers have incentive to hoard 20 gyms with a prayer than some of them stand for the return only collection system.

Well that's true, but in areas where pre-patch level 3 gyms weren't touched for days and were allowed to reach lvl 10, I fail to see what this system will bring... They still won't be touched...

Oh well, let's just wait and see ^^

That is no different than now except you do not get paid for not fighting. Maybe if someone got coins for actually taking down those gyms they might bother doing so. It's arguable whether leaving your mon in an abandoned gym should be a better earning situation anyway tbh. Then you're playing PokeSit.

Yes, We will see.

The thing that actually no one seems to see and be happy about is that with one coin per hour in a gym they more than doubled the amount of coins a single Pokémon could earn. Before the rework it was 10 coins every 21 h.

Of course that is known. And it's not taken for granted. But it has nothing to do with what I've suggested which is how you get paid. I think that this fixes more or less all of the problems that can be fixed with the release.
