Rock event incoming-Quadruple buddy candy too
AdventureWeek is coming! Starting May 18, encounter more Rock-type Pokémon, get more items from PokéStops & more!
Back in December, we collectively walked past the equivalent distance of Earth to Pluto and now, we’re on a journey past the edge of the solar system! As of May 11, the Pokémon GO community has traveled more than 15.8 billion kilometers, and more adventures still await…
Pokémon GO was developed for people to easily experience classic Pokémon gameplay on their mobile device and catch Pokémon in the real world. As a result, every day, people around the globe go outside, explore the world around them, make some new memories, and get some exercise along the way. We’d love to honor the memories created so far, and our collective journey yet to come, with the Pokémon GO Adventure Week celebration from 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 18 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 25, 2017.
To help you stock up for your upcoming adventure, more items will be awarded from every PokéStop you visit, and Poké Balls will be 50% off in the in-game shop. Your Buddy Pokémon is also in the adventuring spirit and will find Candies four times as fast for the duration of the celebration. Whether you’re exploring your neighborhood or an exotic new location, make sure to watch for Rock-type Pokémon such as Omanyte, Kabuto, and their Evolutions. Keep an eye out—maybe you’ll even spot Aerodactyl!
Last but not least, you'll notice an all-new avatar item has been added to your wardrobe—the Explorer’s Hat! Once Adventure Week begins, grab your new hat and head out on your journey.
We’re excited to see where Pokémon GO takes you this week. Document your journey with the Pokémon GO AR camera, post your photos on social media using #PokemonGO, and we’ll share some of our favorites on the new Pokémon GO Instagram channel! As you embark on your adventures, remember to always be alert and aware of your surroundings when playing Pokémon GO and be respectful of the communities and locations in which you play.

Considering that I've only seen 2 wild Larvitar since the release, I'll probably only see 1 during the entire week. That will still be an increase in their spawns from normal!!!
I'll take a few Golems, Rhydons, and even Onix, though!
OK, this also coincides with a nest migration... Bet I get a rock monster nest somewhere.
I hope you have a tracker or at least a communication group for your city. For grass event I was lucky to be in the part of city that spawned exe and sunkern, the only ones I was looking for. 1 km west and I would have seen 1 exe per day (wuith the tracker I was able to see how they were spread). Back in valantines event I've seen/caught exactly one exe and exactly one chancey while it was raining with jiggly.
Surely the possibility of landing several hundred Larvitar candy (and possibly 3-4 Tyranitars) would be sufficient justification for cancelling your trip.
You can fly to Germany any week of the year (and it will still be there), but the rock event is only gonna be those 7 days.....
Your move, cowboy :)
Arghhh, it's one of the very few Pokemon I still need. Unfortunately, I am obligated to attend this championship in Germany as I am participating in it.
Would definitely have loved this opportunity to play again. Was losing motivation the last few days/weeks to be fair with you. Wish you all the best on the other hand!
I think I feel like how you felt JVHS now with rock pokemon since the biome I live in I encounter the geodue and ryhdon line spawn commonly enough here but I am curious how much of a boost larvitar will get. Since I think that larvitar does spawn more here in a rock mountain biome since the start of gen2 ive mannged to catch randomly 5 larvitars and a pupitar. Aside from that hopefully this time ill catch a good iv onix and omanite.
We only have two true events that seemed to spawn in biome rates with an included rare that I remember (the pink event was not biome based, nor the Halloween event.
The grass event certainly had plenty of the typically harder to find grass mons here yet nothing held a biome rarity of Larvitar I think. However I would say that a full Venusaur would be close in rarity and I caught several of them.
Then there is the water event. They scaled the rarity just like I had predicted that they might at the beginning. Then nerfed it to less than normal. My hope is that they make a reasonable increase for you rock guys and still at least make it a super crazy (but existant) rare spawn even out of biome (in mine)
