Rock event incoming-Quadruple buddy candy too

AdventureWeek is coming! Starting May 18, encounter more Rock-type Pokémon, get more items from PokéStops & more!

Back in December, we collectively walked past the equivalent distance of Earth to Pluto and now, we’re on a journey past the edge of the solar system! As of May 11, the Pokémon GO community has traveled more than 15.8 billion kilometers, and more adventures still await…

Pokémon GO was developed for people to easily experience classic Pokémon gameplay on their mobile device and catch Pokémon in the real world. As a result, every day, people around the globe go outside, explore the world around them, make some new memories, and get some exercise along the way. We’d love to honor the memories created so far, and our collective journey yet to come, with the Pokémon GO Adventure Week celebration from 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 18 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on May 25, 2017.

To help you stock up for your upcoming adventure, more items will be awarded from every PokéStop you visit, and Poké Balls will be 50% off in the in-game shop. Your Buddy Pokémon is also in the adventuring spirit and will find Candies four times as fast for the duration of the celebration. Whether you’re exploring your neighborhood or an exotic new location, make sure to watch for Rock-type Pokémon such as Omanyte, Kabuto, and their Evolutions. Keep an eye out—maybe you’ll even spot Aerodactyl!

Last but not least, you'll notice an all-new avatar item has been added to your wardrobe—the Explorer’s Hat! Once Adventure Week begins, grab your new hat and head out on your journey.

We’re excited to see where Pokémon GO takes you this week. Document your journey with the Pokémon GO AR camera, post your photos on social media using #PokemonGO, and we’ll share some of our favorites on the new Pokémon GO Instagram channel! As you embark on your adventures, remember to always be alert and aware of your surroundings when playing Pokémon GO and be respectful of the communities and locations in which you play.

Great rock mons we may see:

Golem family

Onix/Steelix

Rhydon family

Omastar family

Kabutops family

Tyranitar family

All of these excite me considering all of them are incredibly rare in my area. If the chance of encounter only becomes 1 find every hour I will still be hunting like hell.

I need Tyranitar and wouldn't mind a Steelix. Rest are super common here in Northern Utah. All desert all the time lol

Same place I was in for the last two events-grass and water. Water had potential before the Dratini nerf.

Considering that I've only seen 2 wild Larvitar since the release, I'll probably only see 1 during the entire week. That will still be an increase in their spawns from normal!!!
I'll take a few Golems, Rhydons, and even Onix, though!
OK, this also coincides with a nest migration... Bet I get a rock monster nest somewhere.

4x buddy candy coming :D.

Finally, been waiting for one of those. I will be able to power up my 100% Lapras I got in a 2k egg during that event.

Seriously? :O
They really are behind the schedule for releasing the next big update, then. I bet that in the last APK datamine we only saw a small piece of what is coming :)

Up

Probably just a small piece. In regards to these events my guess is that adding the code for species spawn increases probably takes no time at all. I doubt these events "push back" the gym rework in any significant way.

I think he implies that given they are not ready, they try to make us enjoy the game a bit more with more events that cost them nothing from programming time.

Up

Down

Yes, you're right. What I mean is that they are entertaining us while we wait. I very welcome the entertainment :)

Up

Down

Yes...It clearly seems they are having some trouble with the gym rework, that is the only reason they want to keep us busy and engaged before releasing it, my guess is that we probably see the big update following this event, at the end of this month or beggining of June.

Please tell me Larvitar family will be also part of this event!! Only have catched 2 Larvitar since gen2 released...As a water/grass biome this event may be amazing to me, this and the ice one were the 2 I was expecting! :D

I'm sure he increase in spawn rates since he has rock typing.

However if this event runs like past events expect our biome (I have the same as you) I do not expect to see many if any. Much like the Chansey event where we saw none or they were very very rare in some biomes. We will see though.

I hope it will be more likely the halloween event, that we can see rock types everywhere no matter what biome you are and they have learned from their mistakes during valentines and grass event...You know dreaming is free hahah :D

I hope you have a tracker or at least a communication group for your city. For grass event I was lucky to be in the part of city that spawned exe and sunkern, the only ones I was looking for. 1 km west and I would have seen 1 exe per day (wuith the tracker I was able to see how they were spread). Back in valantines event I've seen/caught exactly one exe and exactly one chancey while it was raining with jiggly.

You are a cheater. You support massive botters. You are part of the problem.

Up

I cannot contradict you. There was a thread like 1-2 weeks ago where ended up concluding that the tracker for my city (around 400k population) uses at least 10 times more bots than we are active players.

I remember where did I catch my only 2 Chansey during the pink event. I'm gonna run/walk around that pokestop 24h lol

I would seriously love a shot at some more Larvitar. That would be really nice.

As an area that is plentiful on rock types, can I hope for a Tyranitar catch??!!?!!?

Good luck all

Is that a coincidence that Pokemon Duel is also having a Rock/Steel event like tomorrow?
And last time when we had Grass event, Pokemon Duel is also having a Water/Grass event...

Hell yes!!! I never see rock pokemon where I live! And quadruple buddy cand...wooohoooo!! If only I wasn't incredibly busy that week. Man that sucks.I may have to look into doing some rescheduling.

TYRANITAR HERE I COME!!!!

Hell yeah! Time to make Chansey my buddy again. I have 2 really good IV Geodude's, a Rhyhorn, and a Onix that I'd like to evolve. I'm still missing Aerodactyl! Some Larvitar candy wouldn't hurt either. Still don't have a Tyranitar. Just have 74 Larvitar candy. :( Can't wait for this event.

I have a way of 4 kilometers to my office. Good by bycicle, i will walk! This makes two chansey-update for each day, without my regular playing time in the evening. :-)

Are you f*cking kidding me, why do all these events have to take place during my trips outside my country. The only event I was fully able to play this year was the garbage grass event.

Can anyone tell me how long this event last? I'll be in a Germany from the 18th until the 22nd of May.

Read the ENTIRE post. Not even, just quickly glance and look for numbers. SMH!

Up

Hahaha, excuse me, I was tilting too much! I actually read the post, but didn't notice the 25th of May, thank you very much.

Surely the possibility of landing several hundred Larvitar candy (and possibly 3-4 Tyranitars) would be sufficient justification for cancelling your trip.

You can fly to Germany any week of the year (and it will still be there), but the rock event is only gonna be those 7 days.....

Your move, cowboy :)

Arghhh, it's one of the very few Pokemon I still need. Unfortunately, I am obligated to attend this championship in Germany as I am participating in it.

Would definitely have loved this opportunity to play again. Was losing motivation the last few days/weeks to be fair with you. Wish you all the best on the other hand!

I live in germany. You can play Pokemon go here too. Just check your mobile phone contract to be sure you can use data connection.

Oh man this event is gonna be awesome if the Tyranitar family is part of it.

I also already have a great Aerodactyl but would not mind some more to add to the collection.

I think I feel like how you felt JVHS now with rock pokemon since the biome I live in I encounter the geodue and ryhdon line spawn commonly enough here but I am curious how much of a boost larvitar will get. Since I think that larvitar does spawn more here in a rock mountain biome since the start of gen2 ive mannged to catch randomly 5 larvitars and a pupitar. Aside from that hopefully this time ill catch a good iv onix and omanite.

We only have two true events that seemed to spawn in biome rates with an included rare that I remember (the pink event was not biome based, nor the Halloween event.

The grass event certainly had plenty of the typically harder to find grass mons here yet nothing held a biome rarity of Larvitar I think. However I would say that a full Venusaur would be close in rarity and I caught several of them.

Then there is the water event. They scaled the rarity just like I had predicted that they might at the beginning. Then nerfed it to less than normal. My hope is that they make a reasonable increase for you rock guys and still at least make it a super crazy (but existant) rare spawn even out of biome (in mine)

Im expecting to see omanyte and kabuto and onix to be common spawns on top of geodude and rhyhron but we'll see

Hilarious! I just got back from Colorado. It was rock city there. I almost have enough candy to get my 3rd Golem, so i'm sure that'll happen soon.

Can anyone speculate if 4x candies might include hatching and transferring mon to the professor?

Up

I would have expected them to say that so I do not expect it in any way and will be pleasantly surprised if it is the case.
