Drany Hurricane or Outrage ?

I stil consider about this, although ive known both of them got STAB, H is faster so as a good choice for dodger but only has 1 bar (100 energy to use) while O is slower but it almost do suit dmg to any other types of mons (except Fairy type) and has 2 bar in use. So i wonder and need advices for which is better between them as a DRANY ATTACKER way ?

Outrage is WAY better.

You will get hit by one quick attack using both moves, so there's no real advantage for Hurricane in terms of dodge.

If you count the difference in CD beetween the two, Outrage would do 220 damage with 100 energy in 7.80 seconds.
Hurricane can do 170 damege in 7.10 seconds with 100 energy plus 4 quick attacks. Or 185 damage in 8.20 seconds with the charge and 5 quick attacks.

Also, same type attacks and double bars for energy efficiency are a plus for Outrage. Oh, and Dragon > Flying in the current meta.

There's absolutely no reason to go for Hurricane over Outrage, unless you only have a Dragonite with Hurricane or are looking into very specific matchups that aren't very common in the current meta.

That's why I mentioned energy efficiency, cooldown comparisons with quick attacks, dodge capabilities from both moves and current metagame analysis.

DPS wasn't even mentioned.
If my post was talking about only DPS, Hurricane would be the winner don't ya think?

If you dodge everything, DT/H performs better. If you mostly dodge charge moves, DT/O is better.

Both are very good movesets, and perform similarly in terms of overall DPS, so it's not a huge disadvantage to have Hurricane. Most people prefer Outrage, but it's not like your moveset is bad. In fact, it's quite clearly the second best available moveset for Dragonite that can currently be obtained.

Why DT/H performs better dodging everything?
I can't see it happenning in any relevant scenario in the current meta.

Since the quickattack is the same, it's really easy to calculate it.

Both will get to 100 energy at the same time, and at this point Hurricane with 2.7CD will get hit by 1 attack. Hurricane will also be able to perform one quick attack before the next dodge.
Outrage with 3.9CD will get hit by the next attack and MAYBE by a second one (most likely not), and will not be able to perform a quick attack.

So, by this point, Hurricane wins by 1 quick attack and MAYBE a dodge. Outrage has 1 bar left.

With the next Outrage bar, he will get hit by another attack, maybe 2, and Hurricane can perform 3 or 4 quick attacks while dodging in this time.

In the end, Hurricane will perform a maximum of 185 damage while getting hit one time.
Outrage will perform 220 damage while getting hit 2 times (maybe 3, most likely not 4).

In the end, in most cases you are trading 1 dodge for 35~50 damage. Since you will need 3 to 4 attacks to outperform it, and Dragonite can only attack 2 times beetween dodges, it ends in a pratically even match.

Now you put the better energy efficiency of Outrage, the possibility of 3 charged attacks against the same defender, the better typing, better typing synergy with the quick move, better burst damage and you have the best optimal choice on any playstyle: Outrage.

Very thorough explanation!

Just out of curiosity, how did you obtain 185 for hurricane? The way I'm calculating it is 110 (base power) x 1.25 (stab) = 137.5?

I'm counting the quick attacks that the Hurricane user can perform while the Outrage user uses his second charge bar.

This guys is talking like he's trying to decide which moveset he will choose when he evolves it.

Just evolve it and see what you get. Some of us would feel kissed by angels if we "only" got DT/H.

Collect all which has suilt for my standard of perfection is my destination. Like what i said before i dont wanna be "the best of the world" just gather mons for fun (even have no fight in any gyms for a month) , but its will be extra if my mons were flawless in any ways. :)
P/S: who said dratinies were easy to be caught ? so its definitely GRIND AS HELL

Just wanna mention that for defense, Hurricane is way better, mostly because Outrage is laughably easy to dodge.
