Overview
Suicune is the member of its trio with the most bulk, which can definitely make it a challenge to raid for an unprepared team. Its mono-Water typing leaves it weak only to Grass and Electric, but fortunately these are both titanic types offensively speaking. While the potential challenge is undeniable, Suicune shouldn't pose much of a challenge for any prepared trainers.
Approach
Team composition
- Grass and Electric are Suicune's only weaknesses.
- Grass tends to pull ahead thanks to the sheer power of Mega Sceptile and Kartana as well as their Water resistance, but it falls off really quickly after the two big-names, and many of them fear Suicune's Ice Type moves.
- Electric Types tend to work regardless of the moveset, and tends to have a bit more wiggle room for powerful options beyond the absolute top counters.
Dodging
- Most of Suicune's Charged Moves are on the more difficult side when it comes to dodging. The biggest stand-out for dodging is Ice Beam, which is pretty threatening to most of the top Grass Types.

Bullet Seed | Frenzy Plant | Best |
Nothing quite compares to Mega Sceptile. With its double-resistance to Water and tremendous damage output, this is the Mega Evolution for taking down Suicune. The one issue is the fact that it has a double-weakness to Ice Beam and Ice Fang, meaning it's going to drop very quickly at times.

Thunder Fang | Wild Charge | Best |
While not on a par with Mega Sceptile most of the time, Mega Manectric has the advantage of being able come in regardless of the moveset while also holding the gold-medal for boosting Electric Types on the field. It won't always be the best choice, but it can definitely get the job done if played to its strengths.

Vine Whip | Frenzy Plant | Best |
The runner-up Grass Type Mega Evolution, Mega Venusaur has the advantage of not being as weak to Suicune's Ice Type movesets while still boosting Kartana while on the field. However, it also doesn't tank Water Type moves quite as well, so in general it will tend to have substantially lower performance. It's also weak to Extrasensory, meaning there's at least a 2/3 chance that Mega Venusaur will end up facing down a move that it's weak to.
Despite all of these issues, it is a good option, but definitely not the best.

Volt Switch | Zap Cannon | Best |
Mega Ampharos is the silver-medal of Electric Type Mega Evolutions, but it actually has more in common with the Grass counters than it does with Mega Manectric. It's weak to Ice and resists Water, so it's going to be far more matchup-reliant than its contemporary.

Dragon Tail | Dragon Ascent | Best |
It doesn't boost Electric or Grass Types while on the field, but it has great neutral performance that can definitely cause pain to Suicune. Just keep it the heck away from Ice Type movesets.

Razor Leaf | Leaf Blade | Best |
Outside of Mega Sceptile, nothing can quite compare to Kartana. This monster decimates Suicune, and doesn't fear anything that Suicune can use thanks to a Steel sub-typing. Honestly, there really isn't a situation where Kartana isn't the optimal counter.

Thunder Shock | Wild Charge | Best |
One of the best Electric Types for this raid, Shadow Electivire will fry Suicune if given the chance, but it's a bit frail.

Thunder Shock | Wild Charge | Best |
A bit bulkier than Shadow Electivire but with higher DPS, Shadow Raikou definitely is one of the top Electric counters for this raid to be certain.

Xurkitree sits sort of between Shadow Raikou and Shadow Electivire, which is very impressive for a non-Shadow Pokemon!

Spark | Wild Charge | Best |
While not quite as strong as the big-three listed above, Shadow Magnezone has the advantage of resisting Extrasensory and Suicune's Ice Type moves. This alone gives it a strong niche against what is arguably Suicune's strongest Charged Move, and makes it very much worthwhile.

Charge Beam | Fusion Bolt | Best |
Zekrom shares a lot in common with most Ice Types thanks to its resistance to Water Type moves and its weakness to Ice Type moves. It's an overall great Pokemon that can put in strong performance.

Thunder Shock | Thunderbolt | Best |
A great Electric Type attacker, but it doesn't care for Ice Type movesets.

Magical Leaf | Grass Knot | Best |
You have no idea how great if feels to actually include Shaymin - Sky Forme on one of these without having to list Hidden Power. Giving it Magical Leaf changed this Pokemon entirely, and opened it up to actually become a powerful Grass Type attacker. However, it really, really doesn't want to fight Ice Type movesets.

Bullet Seed | Frenzy Plant | Best |
A strong attacker with great presence, but pretty frail.
