It's been a couple hours… anyone willing to form attack/defense tiers? (if they have changed all that much with the new update) Wondering what I should power up as I've accumulated quite a bit of stardust today.

It seems that the Attack tier may change depending if you dodge or not. Without dodging my attacking Vaporeon had its Hydro Pump energy bar reset just before I could release it (not sure if back to 0% or to 50%). So without dodging you may be more effective with multiple bar moves.

Or perhaps this was just a new glitch similar to the dodge bug, which also is still there.

It's a bit too early to say anything conclusive about this, but my predictions are as follow for defenders:
- Double weakness Pokemon, due to the recent change in damage calculations, will drop (Dragonite, Gyarados, Rhydon, Tyranitar, etc).
- Pokemon that were left out because of low CP will rise (Lapras, Steelix, Umbreon, Slowbro/king, etc).

Attackers will basically consist of counters to the top defenders and a few generalists (Dragonite is still a very powerful Pokemon), IMO.

  1. Even niantic increased SE multiplier dragonites and garys do not feel that much weaker.
  2. Since defenders loose motivation (1/5 of total?) when defeated, after couple battles any defender became very weak.
So I say it almost doesn't matter what you put in gym. Also it looks like some defenders loose CP slower than others (but still unclear), so those which keep CP longer probably will be better.
