Gym placement strategy.
You should place your best Pokémon with the best movesets in the most highly contested gyms you battling back and forth over, win the battle of attrition. Less contested gyms, just get in them.

Well, no shit that your gyms don't get to level 10 if you place a Weedle in it in the first place.
I just don't get why people would do this and it annoys me so much when I see it. I understand that your area is very competitive, but I'm sure you have a couple good Vaporeons or Exeggutors. So why not just place those as defenders? Makes no sense.
I understand people wanting to save revives, but if turnover is SO high and no gyms last, do people even run out of revives (you can't drop 10 mons in 10 gyms before getting knocked out)?
I have tossed out revives before since I tend to swap out before getting knocked out, and if you aren't getting 10 gyms getting constantly knocked out, I'd assume you'd have tons of revives stocked up (assuming you're level 28+ or so when revives aren't an issue anymore).
I do find it annoying as well, but luckily, I save all P/BS Jigglys which can handle most low CP trash due to simply having higher HPs.
I'm not sure I understand the question.
Nevertheless, either throw your highest CP mon in there (moveset is irrelevant) or your highest CP with perfect moveset (A 2900+ Snorlax ZH/HB or BS).
Everything else is just useless.
Even then, there is no "excellent" mon for gum placement. Throw a 3500 Dragonite, a 3200 Snrolax, and anything else in there....best movesets, perfect IV...if someone wants to take it down it's just a matter of time. If a group want to take it down then it's a joke.
