PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Mega Salamence is best using Dragon Tail and Outrage. Draco Meteor is nice too, and can be part of an optimal set, but it's generally not worth the extra effort.
  • Fire Fang and Fire Blast can work together, but are very sub-optimal compared to actual Fire Type Mega Evolutions.
    • However, Fire Fang can also pair with Fly to deal high damage to Grass Types.
  • Outside of that matchup, Fire Fang, Fire Blast, and Hydro Pump have it rough as they cannot deal Super Effective damage alongside Dragontail under any circumstance.
  • Bite can be okay if you're desperate for something to pair with Fire Blast or Hydro Pump.

PVE Overview

Mega Salamence is one of the best Dragon Type Mega Evolutions long-term, hitting very hard while spreading around its Mega Boost for a surprisingly long time given its above-average TDO. Despite the fact that it's destined to be "weaker Mega Rayquaza", Mega Salamence can still stand out in its own right, and will be a valuable part of many raid teams.
