Overview
Mega Tyranitar has long been anticipated as the Mega Boost gives this monster of a Pokemon a tremendous boost in sheer power, and the recent addition of Brutal Swing to its moveset makes it arguably the best counter to Psychic and Ghost Types, even surpassing the cackling monster that is Mega Gengar. Pretty much every player interested in raiding is going to want to farm the Mega Energy to raise at least one member of their Tyranitar armies, but remember that you're going to need two of this monster! Since Smack Down is an Elite Move for Tyranitar, you're going to need to gather enough Mega Energy to raise one to act as a Dark attacker, and one to act as a Rock attacker, so you're going to need to either raid a number of Tyranitar to get the necessary Mega Energy or raise one and walk it for a good long time. Fortunately, Mega Tyranitar isn't a particularly hard fight given the right counters, so just farming down the energy is a very doable goal if you've got just one friend willing to join in.

- Mega Tyranitar's double-weakness to Fighting can make it a pretty easy duo given the right team.
- Front-load your glass cannons for maximum damage output
- Mega Evolution are greatly appreciated for their boosts and high power in Mega Blaziken's case
- Mega Tyranitar has 50% odds of packing a 3-bar Dark Type move, so resistances to Dark can be key.... fortunately, just about everything on this list has that covered.
Battling strategy
- A lot of Mega Tyranitar's moves can be threatening in one way or another; be it Crunch and Brutal Swing coming out very frequently, or Stone Edge's early damage window making it hard to dodge.
- Ironically, Crunch is actually more threatening than Brutal Swing here due to having a slightly higher damage output, though in practice they're going to be virtually identical.

Despite the fact that it's forced to rely on the terribly mediocre Focus Blast, Mega Blaziken stands head-and-shoulders above the competition in this raid. It has an outstanding mix of DPS and TDO that allows it to drop huge damage onto Mega Tyranitar with ease. And while it may not work as well against Stone Edge as some other Fighting Types, it has the advantage of resisting Iron Tail and Fire Blast in conjunction with the standard Dark Type movesets for added longevity.

Much like Mega Blaziken, Mega Heracross is a strong Fighting Type that's cursed with a poor Charged Move. And, much like Mega Blaziken, Mega Heracross is able to overcome this weakness to still stand as a powerful Mega counter. While it's a bit below Mega Blaziken by most metrics, especially due to its worse defensive typing for this raid.

Well, it's worth a mention at least.
Mega Alakazam sports a huge attack stat and a solid Fighting Type moveset, meaning it can come in and beat up poor Mega Tyranitar... but it's a risky move with little payoff. Mega Alakazam is weak to what are arguably Mega Tyranitar's most dangerous moves and may end up dropping before it can launch a Focus Blast, meaning it has the potential to be the worst Mega counter on this list. It also doesn't boost Fighting Types on the field like the above entries, so it's at a huge disadvantage that offers nothing more than the potential silver metal of Mega Evolution DPS in this raid... if everything goes right.

With huge DPS that's compounded by resistances to Dark Type movesets and Fire Blast, Terrakion stands as a paragon among the counters to Mega Tyranitar, standing as a beacon of light against this destructive kaiju's darkness.
....I mean, it is weak to Iron Tail, but we're not about to mention that and spoil the mood that this Legendary Sword of Justice exudes.

While often overlooked in favor of big-brother Terrakion, Keldeo sports similar average performance with the added benefit of resisting Iron Tail, making its resistance set in this raid perfectly covered. One of the gold-standards of the type, Lucario will take on most movesets with ease, even going so far as to resist Iron Tail and double resist Stone Edge, making it a great universal counter option into Mega Tyranitar... just make sure that you dodge Fire Blast.
