Overview
Poor, poor Mega Sableye. When it moved into the realm of Pokemon Go, it left about just about everything that allowed it to stand out, and it also entered a game that really doesn't appreciate its stats. When raiding for this little gremlin, expect a Pokemon that isn't a terribly hard duo with the proper counters, and not much of a threat overall due to low offensive stats. It's pretty bulky thanks to its high Defense which compounds the raid-set HP, but not bulky enough to be hard to take down. The one point in Mega Sableye's favor is the fact that its only weakness is one of the weakest types in the game, so many players probably don't have the counters needed to cause maximum pain in this raid.
Approach
Team composition
-
Fairy is Mega Sableye's one and only weakness.
-
Good Fairy Types are few and far between, so shore up any team shortcomings with powerful generalists like Shadow Salamence or Shadow Metagross.
Battling strategy
- Mega Sableye's moves are a bit annoying. Its Ghost set in particular hits its top counters for Super Effective or neutral damage, so it can be a bit of a problem depending on your team. That said, dodging isn't super recommended due to how frequently its Charged Moves will tend to come out.

Charm | Dazzling Gleam | Best |
The undisputed top counter for this raid, Mega Gardevoir maims Mega Sableye and has very little real competition, especially among Mega Evolutions. The one issue that Mega Gardevoir is weak to Mega Sableye's Ghost moveset, so in some cases it can be a bit of an annoying raid.

Waterfall | Origin Pulse | Best |
While it doesn't deal Super Effective damage, Primal Kyogre has strong neutral damage output and TDO. Our lack of Fairy Type Mega Evolutions worth using beyond Mega Gardevoir leaves us forced to utilize off-type Mega options, and the primals are pretty much the best alternate options.

Charm | Dazzling Gleam | Best |
Shadow Gardevoir is the top non-Mega Fairy Type, and its power shows. It's capable of dealing very solid damage and has great general performance, though it has to watch out for Ghost Type movesets.

Charm | Play Rough | Best |
Shadow Granbull has less DPS than Shadow Gardevoir, but it has the distinct advantage of not sporting a weakness to Ghost moves and the ability to take neutral damage from Dark moves. It's definitely one of the best counters for this raid.

Having an absurdly high Attack stat really helps a Pokemon succeed off-type, especially when it comes to a sub-par type like Fairy. TM your Xurkitree over to Dazzling Gleam and you've got an optimal counter ready to go!

Snarl | Play Rough | Best |
Despite being derided in terms of its raid-attacker performance, Zacian is uniquely poised to excel in this raid. Its mono-Fairy typing works well, and the fact that Snarl deals neutral damage and charges Play Rough quickly means that it can throw out Charged Moves fast enough to make up for a lack of a Fairy Type fast move. If you have one for the Master League, then you're good to go!

Good DPS, but pretty frail for the same reasons as Shadow Gardevoir.

A very solid counter, both literally and figuratively, Togekiss needs only beware of Power Gem to succeed.

Yes, we're this desperate for Fairy counters.

Dragon Tail | Outrage | Best |
The first of the generalist counters, Shadow Salamence can't quite compare to the Fairy counters, but it still hits very hard in its own right. Just watch out for Power Gem!

Bullet Punch | Meteor Mash | Best |
Another of the objectively best generalists, Shadow Metagross can put in work here as well. Just beware, as it's weak to just about everything that Mega Sableye can throw at it.
