Introduction
Niantic has revealed a ton of new details about 2021's GoFest event in a new blog post released today! Let's break down the event piece by piece.
First, and most notably, the event is significantly cheaper this year than in previous years, down from $15 to only $5!
The event will be taking place on Saturday, July 17th and Sunday, July 18th, with different gameplay styles each day.
Day 1: Catch
Much like last year, GoFest will be running off of rotating hourly habitats, each with different boosted Pokémon. This year, there will be four: Jungle, Desert Mountain, Ocean Beach, and Cave. Since the event will run from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, you'll see each habitat twice.
The event will have wild spawns for everyone, as well as incense spawns for ticket holders only.
Jungle
Jungle will feature Pokémon like Scyther, Aipom, Froakie, and others in the wild.
From Incense, Unown F, Unown G, Ludicolo, Chatot, Leafeon, and Serperior.
Desert Mountain
Desert Mountain will have Pokémon like Skarmory, Shieldon, Hippopotas, and others.
Off Incense, you'll see Flareon, Unown F, Unown G, Tyranitar, Flygon, and Throh.
Ocean Beach
Wild spawns will include Dratini, Swablu, Alomomola, and others.
Incense will have Gyarados, Vaporeon, Azumarill, Unown F, Unown G, and Sawk.
Cave
In the wild, you'll see Pokémon like Roggenrola, Galarian Stunfisk, Deino, and others.
Off incense, you'll see Umbreon, Unown F and G, Gardevoir, Absol, and Galvantula.
General Day 1
Day 1 will have raids like Hitmontop, Cranidos, and Deino, as well as Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Zigzagoon in special costumes.
No matter the hour, Chimecho, Kricketot, Audino, and a costume Pikachu will be spawning wild.
There will be a free event shirt avatar item.
And, excitingly, Whismur, Chimecho, Audino, and Tympole will have their shiny forms released!
For Ticket Holders
As mentioned previously, the incense spawns during each section are exclusive to ticket holders. There are, however, additional benefits.
Special Research will occur, giving you a shirt, an avatar pose, and a new Mythical Pokémon.
Additionally, you'll be able to choose between Pop Star and Rock Star costume Pikachus. This choice will determine which music plays, two new special tracks composed by Junichi Masuda!
Much like last year, there will be hourly global challenges, which (when completed) will give a bonus for the remainder of the hour.
There will be four collection challenges, one for each habitat.
And of course, ticket holders will experience increased shiny chances for both wild and incense Pokémon. Additionally, Shiny Unown F, Shiny Thoh, and Shiny Sawk will be released!
Day 2: Raid
From 10:00 AM to 6:00 pm, all trainers will have access to a number of Pokémon returning to raids. Since last year this meant Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina (Dialga and Palkia only having been in raids one time prior), this is potentially really exciting!
Additionally, Day 1's wild spawns will be around again on Day 2, though assumedly not with the same habitat hour setup.
Ticket holders will have the following Day 2 benefits:
- An extra 10,000 XP for completing a raid battle
- Spinning gyms to earn up to 10 raid passes
- Completing timed research to earn up to 8 Remote Raid Passes
- An event bundle with three remote raid passes
- And finally, all Incense Pokémon from day 1 will be attracted to Incense on day 2.
Both Days
All Trainers will have:
- 3 hour lure modules
- Special music produced by Junichi Masuda
- 1/2 hatch distance for eggs incubated during the event
- Special 7km eggs with Pokémon like Igglybuff, Chingling, Audino, and others
- Event-exclusive field research tasks
- and more
Ticket Holders will also have:
- Special event stickers from gifts and Pokéstops
- Surprise encounters from snapshots
- and Unown F and G from Incense, both shiny eligible.
