Overview

After its moveset change pre-release, Thundurus - Therian Forme became a fairly interesting Pokemon that's definitely worth having, and its counter-set shifted ever so slightly as well. This bestial form of Thundurus has fair, yet not outstanding defense, and an outright killer Attack stat, making it especially dangerous to anything that doesn't resist Electric type moves. While many Pokemon have the DPS needed to make the duo with ease, their TDO can be an issue, as Thundurus genuinely likes frying raiders where they stand with an onslaught of highly damaging attacks.

Approach

Team composition

  • Rock Types and Pokemon with a Ground sub-typing tend to perform best
  • Rock Wrecker Rhyperior is generally the strongest overall counter
  • TDO counters are important for the short-man
  • Mega Abomasnow's high overall performance and team boosts can be very valuable, but its performance can suffer against specific movesets. Players should stagger their Mega Evolutions in order to keep the boosts active for as long as possible
  • Front load DPS options to maximize their performance

Battling strategy

  • Re-entering is fairly likely, but solid TDO options and smart dodging can avoid it

  • Dodging can be very important depending on the moveset/counters.

Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.
