Overview
Mega Kangaskhan isn't a particularly valuable Pokemon, but it's recommend that most players at least take it down enough to capture this regional Pokemon for themselves, and to get enough energy to Mega Evolve it at least once for the dex entry. Still, this one can be a tough nut to crack. It's got a few dangerous moves and some decent counter-coverage, so it can be a bit of a pain. A duo is very doable with the right counters, but we're primarily going to focus on the less challenging trio.
Approach
- A varied team is recommended, as a few of Mega Kangaskhan's moves pose a large threat to select counters.
Team Composition
- Fighting Types are the way to go, as Fighting is Mega Kangaskhan's one and only weakness.
- Front-load your glassy Pokemon to maximize their average performance.
- Know when to let a Pokemon faint, and when to dodge. If a Pokemon is unlikely to get to its next Charged Move even if it dodges a move, then let it go.
Note: "Good" movesets are not necessarily viable at the level indicated.

Counter | Focus Blast | Best |
Mega Blaziken is currently the single strongest Fighting Type Mega Evolution, and its performance speaks for itself. This thing comes in and wrecks Mega Kangaskhan with its tremendous DPS while also boosting other Fighting Types on the field, making it an extremely potent option for this raid. Its one down-side is the fact that it's weak to Mega Kangaskhan's Ground Type moves, with Mud Slap in particular posing a huge threat. This means that there's a 50/50 shot that Mega Blaziken will drop pretty quickly in this raid.

Dragon Tail | Dragon Ascent | Best |
Mega Rayquaza, despite not having any Fighting Type moves, is a prime Mega Evolution counter due to its absolutely devastating power and outstanding moveset. It also doesn't hurt that it resists Mega Kangaskhan's Fighting Type movsets and double-resists its Ground Type movesets. That said, this is also a Mega Evolution that doesn't provide a type-based bonus to other Pokemon on the field, and it doesn't appreciate fighting against Outrage. Still, it's a solid option in its own right.

Counter | Focus Blast | Best |
Psycho Cut | Focus Blast | Good |
Mega Alakazam doesn't provide a type-boost any of Mega Kangaskhan's major counters outside of Mewtwo/Shadow Mewtwo's Fast Moves. It's also relatively frail, especially against Crunch, but it has a solid Fighting Type moveset and a resistance to Mega Kangaskhan's Fighting Type moves, so it's definitely not the worst option. Just don't go wasting an Elite TM getting Counter unless you're really desperate, as Psycho Cut is still okay-ish.

Double Kick | Focus Blast | Best |
A secondary option for a Fighting Type Mega Evolution, Mega Lopunny is still a strong counter here that can hit Mega Kangaskhan pretty hard. However, it's definitely below the competition for the most part, and it doesn't like taking on Fighting Type moves.

Double Kick | Sacred Sword | Best |
Terrakion is an outstanding Fighting Type, and its huge average DPS puts it ahead of the vast majority of the competition. It has issues though, as it's weak to both Fighting and Ground Type moves, so it's likely to drop fairly quickly most of the time. Still, don't let that dissuade you from bringing Terrakion along for the ride, as its tremendous DPS generally outpaces its situational frailty.

Counter | Dynamic Punch | Best |
Shadow Machamp is the old champion, and it still very much holds up today. Its overall performance puts it head-and-shoulders above most of the competition, and it also has the advantage of not sporting any weaknesses to what Mega Kangaskhan can throw its way.

Low Kick | Sacred Sword | Best |
Basically Terrakion-lite, Keldeo still hits hard and does the job of countering Mega Kangaskhan extremely well. Its major advantage over its big-brother Legendary cousin is the fact that it's not weak to any of Mega Kangaskhan's moves, so it will tend to have lower DPS, but higher TDO.

Counter | Dynamic Punch | Best |
Often in the proverbial shadow of Shadow Machamp, Shadow Hariyama has identical performance with the exception of a little less DPS and a little more TDO. Regardless, the actual performance difference between the two is small enough that 90% of the time it won't make any tangible difference.

Counter | Dynamic Punch | Best |
This bulky construction worker Pokemon definitely packs a punch, and it's one of the prime options for taking down Normal Types like Mega Kangaskhan. Like the other pure Fighting Types, it doesn't particularly fear anything that Mega Kangaskhan can throw at it, and even resists Crunch for added moveset-based utility, so it's always a safe option to use here.

Counter | Aura Sphere | Best |
While Lucario doesn't like the Ground or Fighting Type moves, it still hits very hard and has the advantage of resisting Outrage on top of the standard Crunch, which makes it situationally outstanding here.

Counter | Close Combat | Best |
Galarian Zapdos is easily overlooked, but it's actually a great option here that resists Fighting Type moves while also double-resisting Ground Type moves. However, it's also one of the hardest Pokemon in the game to actually obtain, so not many are likely to bring it along for the ride.

Counter | Dynamic Punch | Best |
The old classic itself, many people probably have a small army of these guys ready to go. Don't worry, despite being outclassed, classical Machamp still does the job extremely well and shouldn't be discounted in the face of the competition.

Psycho Cut | Focus Blast | Best |
Shadow Mewtwo shows up on basically every raid guide, and so it's here again. With Focus Blast, it hits hard and does decent damage while resisting Fighting Type moves, though it won't handle itself extremely well against Crunch.

If you're fortunate enough to have a Shadow Regigigas with Hidden Power Fighitng, then it can definitely score some heavy hits here, though it's yet another Pokemon that fears Mega Kangaskhan's Fighting Type moves. Still, the master of the titans is worthy of consideration... if you've been lucky.

BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ!
YOU WANNA BE BUFF? YOU WANNA BE SWOLE? THEN PICK BUZZWOLE! BUZZWOLE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT OTHER FIGHITNG TYPE MOVES, BECAUSE IT'S GOT THE POWER TO PUNCH MEGA KANGASKHAN IN THE FACE!

Low Kick | Flying Press | Best |
Hawlucha's claim to fame is its double-resistance to Flying Type moves and single-resistance to Fighitng Type moves, as well as the tremendous power of Flying Press. That's... about it. It's not the worst, but it is a step down.

Cobalion is basically Lucario-lite, but it's still not bad in its own right.

Virizion has the advantage of resisting Mega Kangaskhan's Ground Type moves, which is enough for it to have some genuine utility. It's a bit down on the list, but it's still fine.
