Egg Incubator
A device that incubates an Egg as you walk until it's ready to hatch. Unlimited use!
A device that incubates an Egg as you walk until it's ready to hatch. Breaks after 3 uses (1-use Egg Incubators have been given out during events).
A more powerful Egg Incubator that helps Eggs hatch quickly. Breaks after 3 uses.
Effect: Eggs placed in this incubator require 33% less walking distance to hatch.
See the Egg hatching guide for more info!
As frequently as possible. Always have an Egg in the Egg Incubator ∞! The hatched Pokémon's level is linked to the trainer's level at the time that the Egg was acquired.
If the Egg Incubator ∞ is the only incubator in inventory...
- Prioritize incubating higher-distance Eggs (10 km) for more new and/or rare Pokemon.
- Prioritize incubating lower-distance Eggs (2 km) to clear up space for more Eggs.
Trainers who have Egg Incubators (blue) and Super Incubators (purple) as well...
- Use Egg Incubator ∞ to hatch the lowest distance Eggs. Since this incubator is unlimited use, its value is negligible.
- Save Egg Incubators and Super Incubators for 10 km Eggs to net the most value.
- 2 km Eggs in a 3-use incubator nets 6 km of usage.
- 5 km Eggs in a 3-use incubator nets 15 km of usage.
- 10 km Eggs in a 3-use incubator nets 30 km of usage.
- Since Egg inventory is capped at 9, feel free to use a limited-use incubator on 5 km Eggs. Lower-distance Eggs would have to have been hatched anyway since they cannot be discarded.
- Up to 9 incubators can be used at once - one for each Egg.

Incense
Incense with a mysterious fragrance that lures wild Pokemon to your location for 30 minutes.
Is my Incense glitched? Nothing is spawning!
If you manually set your device's date / time, the servers might disable spawns. Make sure to properly set your phone to sync time accurately!
Do the Incense and Lure Module stack?
Yes. The Lure Module will stack and increase the frequency of encountering Pokemon.
Note that the effect of Incense will only be limited to you. The others around you will benefit only from the Lure Module.
How many Pokemon usually spawn in a 30-minute session?
When stationary, Incense attracts 1 Pokémon every 5 minutes. While moving, Incense attracts 1 Pokemon for every 200 meters traveled, up to a maximum rate of 1 Pokémon a minute.
Are Incense Pokémon different than normal Pokémon?
Pokémon spawned by Incense and Lure Modules despawn in about 3 minutes. Only the user of Incense can see or catch Pokémon spawned by Incense. Also, Incense-spawned Pokemon will have a swirling pink cloud at their base (instead of white circles like regular wild spawns).
Does it make Pokemon on my radar move closer to me?
No, it spawns new Pokemon. Any existing Pokemon on your radar will remain until they are captured or disappear.
Using Incense while moving generates Pokémon at a faster rate, up to 1 Pokémon a minute if you travel 200 meters in that time. This is helpful on buses and cruise ships, for example.

How many Pokemon usually spawn in a 30 minute session?

Raid Passes
Pass to join a Raid Battle. You can get a free pass at Gyms once per day if you don't already have one.
Premium Raid Pass to join a Raid battle. You can use this pass anytime.
EX Raid Pass to join a special Raid Battle. You can use this pass only at the specified limited-time event.
- A trainer can use a Raid Pass or Premium Raid Pass to enter into a Raid at any Gym (except EX Raids). They are removed from a trainer's inventory upon entering a raid lobby.
- If a trainer enters a Raid Battle but does not defeat the raid boss, they can keep trying until they defeat the boss or time runs out on the Raid Battle.
- If a trainer or group defeats the Raid Boss, they cannot participate in the same Raid instance at that Gym again.
- An EX Raid Pass may only be used to enter a raid battle at the date, time, and Gym specified on the pass (there is a "Get Directions" link on the pass); it may not be traded in or exchanged for other dates, times, or locations.
- Raid Pass: One free Raid Pass may be obtained per day by spinning a Gym. Only one Raid Pass may be held in Items at a time, but if a Raid Pass is not used from the previous day, it can be used today and a new free Raid Pass gained by spinning a Gym that same day.
- Premium Raid Pass: Premium Raid Passes may be bought in the shop for 100 PokeCoins (it's often more economical to purchase them as part of Special Boxes). Trainers may hold as many Premium Passes as they have inventory spaces, and may use as many Premium Passes in a day as they wish.
- EX Raid Pass: EX Raid Passes are given out by Niantic to raid a special boss (it has been Mewtwo since 2017) at a certain Gym on a certain date and time. Gyms eligible to hold EX raids have certain characteristics, and strategies to "trigger" an EX Raid Pass distribution are detailed in this article.

Technical Machine (TM)
This Technical Machine teaches the Pokemon a new Fast Attack.
This Technical Machine teaches the Pokemon a new Charged Attack.
- Select a TM (Fast or Charged) in your inventory and then select the Pokemon to use it on. TMs can now also be used from the Pokemon list.
- A TM switches a Pokemon's move (Fast or Charged) to another move in that Pokemon's current movepool (i.e., non-legacy, non-event).
- The result is random, so if there is 2+ possible moves (other than the current move), the TM is not guaranteed to pick the desired move.
- Since TMs are rare, be judicious in their use. Not all Pokemon need to be given their "optimal" moveset, especially if you don't plan to use it.
- Hidden Power: TMs cannot be used to switch among Hidden Power types. A particular Pokemon will always have a particular Hidden Power type, no matter how many Fast TMs it gets.
TMs are possible rewards for successfully defeating a Raid Boss. They may also show up as Research Task rewards.
For more information on the basic mechanics of raid rewards, see The Silph Road Research Group's report on Raid Rewards and "bundles"; however, after it was published, some changes were made in the rewards, and trainers are now guaranteed Golden Razz Berries for defeating a Raid Boss, and some TM drop probabilities were increased per an announcement in November 2017.
Rare Candy
A mysterious candy. When used on a Pokemon, it turns into the Pokemon's Candy.
- Select Rare Candy in your inventory, then select a Pokemon to specify how many Rare Candy you want to transform. Rare Candy can also be used from the Pokemon list.
- The most efficient use of Rare Candy is on legendary Pokemon. They are available for a limited time, cannot be placed in Gyms, and produce Candy every 20 km as a Buddy.
- Like with every other resource in the game, don't commit Rare Candy until you need to. However, Rare Candy stockpiles can occupy a large amount of inventory space.
Rare Candy is a possible reward for successfully defeating a Raid Boss. They may also show up as Research Task rewards.
