Does the location where an egg was found determine the type of Pokemon that hatches?

Apologies if this has been asked before but I'm just wondering if the location where an egg was found determines the type of Pokemon that hatches from it? I'm US-based but have friends all across the world, including from regions with exclusive Pokemon I can't find in the US short of special events. Just wondering if I get a 7KM egg from a friend in Australia or Indonesia lets say, do I have a better chance of hatching a Pokemon exclusive to (or more common in) that region, or not?

Thanks in advance!!!

No, regional egg hatches were only during the the kanto ultra bonus. And at they, the regionals weren't region locked, i got Kanga and farfetch'd from US gifts.

Currently all 7k egg pokemon are either alolan forms (most of which have not been released in the wild) or are baby pokemon, which flat out dont appear in the wild. When the egg comes from has no affect on what it holds, on distance when it comes to trading and trading medals.

EDIT: currently there are various hoenn pokemon in 7k's, these may be hoenn event specific egg hatches, we do not know yet, but will after the event ends.

They recently added some non-alolan and non-baby Pokemon to the 7k pool as well, such as Absol and Mawile.

Those are specifically for the hoenn event, and also arent regionals, they are raid exclusives (most of the time) absol was only temporatily available via research for something like one month, and mawile and it are likely going to stay in raids and leave 7k's after the event.

Ive heard feebas and nincada are also in them, but i feel theu will leave after the hoenn event ends, similar to what happened with kanto regionals in the ultra bonus.

Ah yes, pretty sure you're right about Absol and Mawile being temporary. I hope they stay, though! I want me some more chances at shiny Absol and Mawile. :)

And according to the GamePress egg list, Nincada and Feebas are indeed in the 7k eggs right now.

Can understand that, know a number who gave up trying to raid them, though my prize is the shiny babies, mawile and absol are always gonna be raid bosses, but the babies are EGG-sclusive (haha)

Thank you! this is what I assumed but wanted to triple check because it seems like such a perfect incentive to give people around the world a chance to catch rarer Pokemon perhaps not native to their region - so of COURSE Niantic doesn't do it that way, because it'd be way to good to be true :-)

Yep, too easy that way I guess, lol. The best we North Americans can hope for is that they do another event like the Kanto one where they put a certain generation's regionals in the 7k eggs.

North America has a ridiculous number of regionals: Tauros, Illumise, Lunatone, Seviper, Corsola, Heracross, Carnivine, and Pachirisu. If you live near Orlando, the only one you have to find for is Pachirisu.

The Kanto event didn't require the egg to be from the region where the regional spawns normally, they came from all 7k eggs regardless of region. I have Tauros from Norway, Hawaii and Australia for example.

i know they weren't region locked, all my kanga, and leakducks were from US, might not have made that clear what i meant by regionals

Uh, not sure what you mean by getting an egg from a friend...you can't trade eggs, and short of having someone else log into your account (which is against Niantic's ToS) you wouldn't be able to get them from other regions...

I'm talking about when you receive an egg as a gift from a friend - not actually trading eggs.
