There should be a brag thread

Let me start. Should I max this out? Since reaching level 38, I have maxed out nine mons (none legendary). As a free player, I earn Rare Candy slowly, but now have 358 after underwhelming legendaries over the past few months.

Unable to defend gyms and not great for attacking them, its main use will be raiding other legendaries and perhaps alongside my Gyarados in Master League PvP. There is also the potential for an exclusive move...

I am also unsure what to do with this. Back when I got it, I wanted to max it out and switch to Focus Blast, but I did not have enough Rare Candy or Charged TMs. I gradually parked my Rare Candy into it but Metagross (already maxed a perfect one with Meteor Mash) made Focus Blast much less useful.

Of course, Shadow Ball is no longer obtainable. Psychic is very future-proof (unless Psystrike gets a buff) but it has limited use on gym offence (not sure about future raids). Thunderbolt has a limited niche against Kyogre with Blizzard, which I am not keen to raid, while Ice Beam will only be useful if we get Rayquaza before Swinub day (not sure about its use against Dragonite on gym offence).

Did I forget to mention that a second charged move will cost another 100 Rare Candy?

I'd say groudon's thats a bit unnecessary to have, unless you reliably have clear weather for dialga raids, machamp beats it in any other weather. I'm keeping my groudon unpowered up, like my 96%, 15 atk nonshadow ball mewtwo

Though my lucky kyogre is a very different story

I haven't boosted mine either. Groudon has had its time to shine when Heatran was around and won't really get it again unless it gets Precipice Blades. My Mewtwo has Focus Blast (didn't bother to change it yet) and therefore hasn't seen any use either. Ofcourse they'll get some dust and candy at some point, but I haven't found that point yet.

People always ask whether they should max a pokemon out. Powering up a pokemon does not have to be an all-or-nothing proposition. There is a lot of intermediate ground between L20 (level when caught) and L40 (max). For example, taking it even to L30, which is far less expensive than maxing, will make it a very fine, usable ground attacker that is 85% as good as a maxed one. If you want to continue to power it up from there, you can do so at whatever pace you want.

In my case, I had already taken a 93% Groudon with MS/EQ to level 30, so having a second level 30 Groudon would only be useful for raids, not gym offence or PvP.

Likewise, a level 30 Mewtwo with Focus Blast is useless, as I have already maxed three Machamps and a Metagross. With Psychic, it would be an upgrade over my level 30 Alakazams and Espeon.

There is a subreddit for that:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongobrag/

In fact, I see someone posted a weather-boosted level 25 100% Groudon just this morning:

My question title was referring to questions like "what should I do with my perfect Dratini/Larvitar/Chansey" attracting responses like "nice brag post".

I mean, depends on the op. There's obvious brags, and then genuine questions where the op wants to consider meta relevance, their current pokemon, etc before powering just because...it's 100 iv. But if you just wanna brag, pipjay's got the right idea

Without weather boost it gets outdone in raid match ups that don't face a double ground weakness. Unless you get clear weather on the regular you may not end up using it as much as you'd like. Precipice Blades, if ever released, would obsolete this too regardless of IVs.

On the other hand, it slays in PvP thanks to Mud Shot's high energy gain AND it's a perfect legendary.

That's a tough call. At the end of the day I think I would since Groudon is a favorite of mine. You clearly have the dust and candy for it.

I got a 15/15/15 today. Already have a maxed 15a/14/15 and level 38 15a/12/11. I’d rather have gotten a 10/10/10 shiny...yes, that’s how many shiny whiffs on Groudon I’ve had. I really can’t believe how I could have missed this many times.

It's very good in master league PvP if you care about that. But if you don't feel like you absolutely need it, I'd save your rare candy for a pokemon that doesn't have such a big risk of getting an exclusive move later. Then again, it's a perfect legendary, which is a good excuse to max it in my books.

Among my perfect pokemon are a 100% Pikachu and 100% Meowth, which I foolishly evolved into a Raichu and Persian (when I was much newer at PoGo).

I hatched a perfect Bulbasaur and immediately evolved it, two weeks before Bulbasaur CD was announced. So glad I asked Blanche before transferring a Magmar, which turned out to be perfect.
