Reasonable to trade Melmetal?

I don't have a Switch, and don't plan on it. Walking 8,000 km with a single buddy and/or dumping 400 RCs obviously have limited appeal. Is it reasonable to ask whether someone in my community would trade a Melmetal? I guess I'm asking: how hard is he to get for dedicated Let's Go players? Does anyone have enough candies that they've evolved 2 or 3 at this point?

After they upped the amount of Meltan spawns per box to 19, someone with access to a Switch can get 114 candies per use off of Pinap catches alone, more after factoring in transfers and trades. It would take someone 4 box uses to get enough candy to evolve one.

While I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask for one via trade, why not meet up with someone with a Switch to catch them yourself? The Switch titles can receive Pokemon from any given account and distribute boxes to them as well, they aren't locked to the Switch owner. I don't own a Switch and have gotten my own Mystery Box by transferring to two different people.

Definitely easier to ask for mystery box. The Switch is a portable console, so worth asking to meetup with someone on your local chat. And ask friends at any large get-together like community day or lefendary raids because someone might already have their Switch with them.

Another point I forgot to mention that follows up on yours is that someone willing to trade a Melmetal likely has a Switch to begin with. It makes more sense to me and I'd rather grind out my own Melmetal by meeting with someone once a week rather than spend the minimum 40k dust needed to trade one, being an unregistered mythical and all.

I'd recommend seeking out someone with a switch. Currently im playing for 2, myself and my friend who cant play go, they love in a rural area, nearest stop is 3 miles away. So I need to get 3 melmetal, the boxes are absolutely fantastic, even one is a massive help.

114 candy from the box itself, and if you trade with a friend for the maximum distance, you can get an additional 21 (or 28 if mirror trading distance meltan, then transferring the meltan you recice if they arent good) with another 9 from releasing the meltan from the box you cant trade (as you can only do one special trade a week and the box refreshes weekly, require another transfer into lets GO) coming out to 151 candy at most per week, if doing things at maximum efficiency.

The only kink in this plan is that max efficiency likely isn't a possibility for most people. Unless you deliberately drive 100km away from your general PoGo scene to open your Mystery Box I can't see someone reliably getting the maximum trade bonus for Meltan swaps.

Still, if you're able to hit maximum weekly candies like this then it would only take 3 weeks to get Melmetal instead of 4.

The maximum distance is a bit of a problem, I agree. I guess ive been a bit better off with a semilarge community, most all of us are leaving for somewhere one week or another.

But even then, its 14 candy for mirrors rather than 28, 21 if they love 10km away which isnt terribly far. Stil bringing the minimum up to 139 (my math was off before, counting 16 meltan per box rather than the real 19) so it still takes only 3 weeks even if trading for no distant mirror meltan.
