Any use for a Bite, Crunch, Outrage Gyarados?

As above really, just ended up with this combo randomly and I'd appreciate any suggestions....

As my end of a trade, I landed a Lvl 28 G'dos with Bite and Outrage (didn't need anything in particular so picked that) and added second charge move, hoping for HP, which turned out to be Crunch.

It wasn't a lucky trade but it's rolled IVs of 14/15/15 a/d/s so I want to make the most of a decent one. I live by water so 'Karp are easy to come by so I can always have another water move one but before I use a TM and drop one of my lower IV ones is there any decent/niche use for this unlikely combo ?

I do have other dark/dragon/water coverage with five dark Ttars, three decent Dragonites, have three Totodile/Croconaw and half a dozen Mudkip in the wings for respective CD and can always get more G'dos but don't have any Kyogre. I don't really play PvP so looking more at raids/gyms.

Happy to spend the TM if needed and/or have candy & dust to power up if this can be a fun or useful alternative.

Thanks for the help.

The good thing about Gyarados is its high attack stat and its versatile in that you can use it well in PVP and it will surprise your opponent. Its not the best dark attacker but it does decent damage especially useful if you dont have houndooms or tyranitars to take down Deoxys. And with those IVs i would keep it anyway, Not all mons need to be mewtwo/kyogre level DPS.

As a dark type, its ok. Not the best, but it is usable, I made great use of mine when I didnt have a full team of dark tyranitar during mewtwo month, and if you're out doing raids with friends, its a fun pokemon to use when not wanting to use the same pokemon over and over.

Outrage is proabbly the least useful of its charge moves, as you arent for PVP. Dialga's not weak to dragon as its part steel, and palkia's only real weakness is Dragon (as fairy is bad) so it might be good against it if palkia's got draco meteor or dragon tail when you go against it. If you feel confident in your dragons, i'd TM this off.

If you want hydropump, Gyrados is a lot better against ground moves, with Rhydon back in rotation, its a great option against them (as well as both CD water types arent currently out yet) and likely Rhydon will leave soon after the event for totadile. That and it probably will be a LONG time before theres a sufficiently large number of feraligatr powered up to be raid counters, so Gyarados will still be great for a while.

That's what I was hoping, thanks, I've no great need of any of those types really so having a bit of variety for fun that's also useful is perfect. Maybe I'll TM Outrage at some point but as I've a full set of 91%+ WF/HP anyway, plus enough candy and dust to turn at least two of my stashed totodiles into Lvl 30 Feraligatrs I'm in no rush.

How does the smartest and the single greatest Go player ever.... Possibly not be able to field a team of maxed out double dark T-tars ? Especially when you consider it’s pretty much been a constant Raid Boss since the beginning of the game.

I used a B/C Gyarados before I had higher-level actual dark types. It's serviceable and can fill a gap if you need it to but you should be looking to replace it with something else.

Outrage would be better suited if you plan to stick it in gyms. It's unresisted by most, and those that do resist it (namely Metagross) probably won't be fighting it unless the attacker is lazy about switching out.

Hydro Pump pairs better with Waterfall for obvious reasons but is Gyarados's time to shine on the offensive front. Currently the second best water type behind Kyogre, soon to be third behind Hydro Cannon Feraligatr.

Personally I'd get more use out of it as a water attacker, but that's me. If you're tired of throwing Tyranitar at everything you can keep B/C on it and drop it in but it's noticeably worse.

This set would hit hard against Metagross in gyms, as Gyarados is the most annoying thing to deal with aside from a double resistance. But if you don't have another Gyarados with a Water set you should really switch, because its Ground immunity really helps with certain raid bosses, and it's easier to get candy for. (Magikarp)
