Power Up A Dragonite with DB/DP?

My perfect Dragonite with Dragon Breath/Dragon Pulse is currently at 2609 CP. I have enough candies to max it out, but I'm not sure if Dragon Pulse is worth the investment. Alternatively, I have a 96% Dratini that I can fully evolve and hope for Dragon Breath/Dragon Claw.

I understand that Dragon Pulse is similar although slightly worse than Dragon Claw in terms of DPS, so I'm hesitant to power it up since it's not the 'best' offensive moveset. Should I power up the Dragonite or evolve the Dratini? Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Power to 30, then save to evolve your other one. Nice thing about pulse is that you can use it for defense too even with breath. All charge moves are pretty equal in terms of dps. Claw is mostly nice became dodging is easier.

Power to 30 huh? Is it because additional power ups after 30 don't add that much more DPS for offensive purposes?

Powerups past level 30 are only half as big each time. So you eat up a ton of stardust/candy for really minimal CP gains. But if your Dragonite is truly 100%, then heck yea max it out because you will get to 3581 once you hit level 40. Really cool accomplishment.

It is 100%. :)

I understand that CP gains are halved after level 30. I wasn't sure what that meant for increase in damage as the level goes up. Is the damage increase also halved?

damage dealt partly depends on your attack stat x CPM, so in a way, yes.

but damage gets rounded so that powering up would have almost no effect. quick moves will do the same damage and your charge moves might do like 1 extra damage.

lol, most people would be thrilled in this situation!

I would power up any 100% Dragonite regardless of moveset.

My 100% Dratini evolved with basically the worst possible move combo (SW/DC) and I still powered it up

Take it to lvl 30/31 and use that monster
