Determining the age of eggs

Does anyone have any tips to determine the "age" of eggs? I believe I read on Gamepress that the contents of each egg is determined at the Pokestop, when you acquire the egg.

However, my experience is that it is hard to know which eggs are oldest.

When you start incubating an egg, it sometimes "moves" to a different slot out of your 9 slots When you change your Pokemon list to "Most Recent" it doesn't seem to change the order of the eggs, though most of my eggs are 5km

Is the only way to ensure you have no "old" eggs to use 9 incubators at once? Normally, that would be a ridiculous idea for me, since I don't like to spend cash money on the game. However, with all the free incubators, it actually seems doable for once.

I'd love to be able to tell when/where each egg was acquired. Don't think there is a way to tell though...

I think oldest egg is upper left and newest egg is lowest right. Just like you were typing a letter.

From my experience with having (9) 5kms eggs and then acquiring a (1) 2km egg, the 123/456/789 idea does not hold true.

The 2km egg can appear anywhere on the board, and might even move within the board if you exit the menu and return.

U can try incubating upper left and lowest right alternately, that's what i'm doing

The easiest way to clear out old eggs for sure is if you have only 5km eggs, once you get a 2 or 10km one, keep incubating the 5km ones since you KNOW the 2 and 10km is NEW.

Keep repeating and you will eventually get rid of all the old 5km eggs.

If you walk a lot, this is easy to do assuming you pick up the occasional 2km egg (10s are sorta hard to get to begin with).

I would suggest this method as well, have done it a few times in the past and it usually only takes a week to 10 days if you walk a decent amount every day

Assuming you are now at least level 20, then use up your free incubators and hatch them all at 1 time, preferably under a lucky egg when you are also doing a mass-evolve. The eggs always move around in my experience so there is no way to tell (well except for your 2K/10K egg if you have exactly 1...)

There isn't an order. The eggs are randomly placed in the bag. How do I know this? I always hold on to my 10K eggs until I have 9 of them to hatch them all at once with a lucky egg. During this time after I hatch a 5K or 2K egg and pick up a new egg, all the eggs shuffle. The funniest is when I have 8 10K eggs and every time I pick up a new egg I have to hunt for it in the 3 by 3 grid because it did not generate in the top left corner. When I pick up 2 more eggs I'll post another screen shot

As you can see I just picked up another 10K egg and yellow eggs shifted. Or everything my have shifted to the left.

I'll post another pic once the 5k hatches and I pick up another egg to see where that egg populates.

The egg hatched and everything shifted to the left.
This means your most recent egg is the top right and your oldest egg is the bottom right. And everything else is random.

Just picked up another egg and it appeared on the top right. But the other eggs shuffled as the 5K eggs didn't move accordingly. So I guess they are randomly placed when hatching and incubating but the newest egg is always top right.

And now I just picked up another 2K egg and look where it ended up. SMH.

I think it's safe to say the eggs are just randomly placed in the bag.

After I hatched the green egg in the middle row they shifted again
