The number of current players is 4% of the number of players in early August. The erosion of these hard core players will be slow.
Game improvements will have to be directed towards these remaining players, who are mostly adults.
One improvement would be a 25k egg that hatches only Lapras, Snorlax, or Dragonite, or allows moves change to one Pokemon.

Slowly, but yes.

I am getting feed up of Niantic not improving there game.

Did you spend money on this game?

I will quit soon if they don't release a big update this January.

Maybe niantic will survive this huge loss. At least, I hope so.

There is certainly room for improvement in the game but I think people need to give the company a little breathing room. Updates nearly once or twice per month is better than most games. They are an early stage international game that holds events, updates their game, and are a reasonably small company. They can do only so much. I think the player base is a bit too demanding if not entitled.

PvP or trading could revive this game.

Looking forward to a staggered release of the Gen 2 evolutions of Gen 1 Pokémon before the whole set of Gen 2s release. That could keep us happy for a couple of months. Baby Pokémon weren't much of an exciting addition to pull players back.

Trading will be the death of this game. Pokemon Spawn Rate is adjusted to a non-trading system. If trading would be allowed, either
(1) spawn rates would have to be reduced drastically, what causes problems with new players or
(2) Almost everybody would have almost perfect pokemon, this renders the collecting aspect completely useless.

Trading would be a feast for botters and cheaters, it would create a real income for those elements.

Just look over the history of diabloIII. At first, there was hardly anything to find, then more and more. Trading was a big bussiness, many "players" played auction house and not diablo.
At one point, they made all new items bound to the player and closed auction house. It was quite an improvement, a player had to do some grinding to get a decently equipped character.

With a trading system, niantic would repeat the mistakes blizzard hade made and corrected. Hopefully, they are smarter.

I agree with Bruno on this one, but I feel that Niantic needs to do the following:

1) 25K would be nice, (just snorlax, lapras, Aero, and dratini) They can be rare eggs, but at least you know you will get one of the following instead of a smoochum

2) Increase the rarity of rare pokemon like snorlax, dragonite, lapras, etc. There is too much damn common pokemon and pokemon that nobody cares.

3) If you increase the spawn rate then you dont need to invest trackers in the first place. Everyone is created equal in finding these rare pokemon because they are everywhere and we can be just walking and find a snorlax or something. Yes there would be dragonites every where, but at least you have everyone engaged.

I have a dragonair that I walked to get 25 candies to evolve. Now I have to walk 500KM to get 100 can dies to evolve to dragonite.

I feel as though everyone's complaint is "Why am I catching so many stupid Pidgeys, I cant find a rare pokemon to make me surprised."

Why do I need to grind all day on the beach to catch 3-4 dratini when I need like 20 of them. Thats so uch time spent to drive and invest time so that you can have a dragonite.

Its true, you might make some people lose well rare pokemon should be rare pokemon, but at least you have the rest of the people wanting to play.

After talking about spawn rates, I think PVP battling should come next. I think it will make more people competitive and want to train more and battle.

I agree with you Bruno, that if we do trading, this will kill the game. Making no improvements from right now, if they open trading and I get my snorlax with lick and hyper beam. I will indeed stop investing and playing the game. This is the sole reason why I still keep playing. Its just a pet peave that i want specifically that snorlax. I have filled the majority of my pokedex and have 2 more babies and 3 regionals to fill it up completely.

My opinion on this update was just mediocre. I was not excited for gift boxes that we pay, starters (except final evolutions.) and baby pokemon. My bag is full because Im saving up for gen 2. If not I would have only 20 pokemon in my bag because everything else is useless.

Enough of my ranting. lol.

I don't think they're doing a bad job for a small company. We've had a lot of events over a short time frame, and they've tried to make them different.

Yes I'm looking forward to more gen 2 releases but it's not going to totally reinvigorate the game. There needs to be some big addition to the playing of the game to bring on board big numbers - what that should be I'm not sure.

I think trading will kill the game - they've either not got the resources or ability to deal with cheats at the moment.
