Having gone through and updated ~300 entries on Calcy, its recommendations for various raid bosses have changed. It now recommends Dragons and Gengars *much* more prominently, and SB Mewtwo far less prominently. Generalists are sometimes as high as 2nd choice over dedicated counters, usually coming in about 4th/5th, depending on how many powered up copies of what I have. Previously, one wouldn't see them higher than 7th or 8th.
Whats calcy?
It could be recommending generalist more because of the CP rebalance as most generalist like dragonite received a buff (gengars extra 25% TDO also is great on a glass cannon) and/or with all the new pokemon it might make determinations based on stardust or rare candy (for legendary) conservation but that seems unlikely.
Calcy is a delightful IV scanner for Android. I have it sorted by DPS for recommendations, not survivability. I'm assuming that the defense tweaks changed the relative breakpoints enough that my high level dragons got another point or two, enough to push them over some second choice (viable at 35 or 40) attackers.
