Lucky Pokemon (not guaranted?)

Hi. Today, I was trading with my friend. He got back to game a few weeks ago. He has a few mons from july and august 2016. As we know, pokemon caught in that time are guaranted to be lucky when traded. We did that a few times, but today, he gave me Jynx from 24.08.2016, I gave him Flareon with bad IV but good moveset, so it could be lucky and get nice IV. But, surprisingly, traded pokemon weren't lucky! Does someone know what is going on?

how many lucky pokemon does he have? I think it's only guaranteed if you have less than 10 lucky pokemon. Also I remember someone saying that evolving a lucky pokemon will count as an extra lucky, but I haven't double checked that part

Yeah...I also though that evolving would count as an extra lucky, but I don't think that's been proved yet.

At least one of you should have less than 11 lucky pokemon registered to your pokedex.

Please, let me correct you.
Not less than 11, less than 10 (the 10th is the last guaranteed).
Not one of them, specifically the guy who sends the Jul/Aug 2016 pokemon must have less than 10 lucky ever registered.

That said, older pokemon are still more likely to go lucky in trades. Even if one has 10 luckies, pokemon from July/August 2016 still have a better chance to go lucky than stuff one caught yesterday. No guarantees, just probability.

The person with the July or August 2016 pokemon must have less than 10 luckies for it to be a guaranteed "lucky" trade.

I had 25 Lucky Pokemon prior to them letting us know about the guaranteed 10 lucky. Still had 25 odd July/August 2016 mon so I had been trading with my Alt for the below:
2x Mewtwo
2x Shiny Moltres
2 x Shiny Metagross
1 Chameleon (accidentally)

All have been lucky so far. Still have 18 July/August 2016 mon left so I'll continue testing as I go.
