What exactly is "Battles Won"?

When scrolling through a gym.

Thanks.

It is supposed to be the count of how many times your defender has stopped the attacker by fainting his last pokemon or timing them out.

Although it seems to have some bugs and not be accurate.

Ever? Or only in that particular gym? And only against enemies, not friendly trainers?

Thanks!

Ever, Battles Won stays with the mon and whenever you put it in another gym the number of battles the mon has will be displayed below.

Yes, this is how it's supposed to work. However, there are definitely some inconsistencies. As far as I know, Battles Won count still hasn't been able to reliably raise with testing, so either it doesn't work consistently or there are some requirements/limitations to what kind of battles get counted as battle won.

Yep. I've mentioned it before but I'm 100 percent sure I put in a brand new poke who had never defended and it immediately had 1 battle won.

Also a slowbro with battle won, I really doubt it cleared a team from the bottom of a gym.

It seems my most powerful defenders are the ones with least battles won somehow. 2954 dragonite has 4, but a 3064 Snorlax has 0. Also worth noting my other dragonite I use exactly the same amount with same moveset and higher CP also has zero battles won. Very inconsistent.

Yeah, I remember you saying that. Well, maybe someday we'll learn how it works exactly.

What if an enemy lost once and went back to win the gym?

I noticed once my Chansey won or more likely timed out an enemy attacking but they took her out the second time around.

I'll have to put her in a gym again and look.
