Psycho Cut or Confusion with Focus Blast?

I have made up my mind that for shadow ball sets I am running psycho cut, and for psychic sets I am running confusion.

Well I just recently powered up a focus blast Mewtwo. What fast move is preferred for focus blast? Obviously it will be used for gyms. In such an instance is charging up focus blast faster with psycho cut more important or consistent damage with confusion?

Thanks

I have a feeling Psycho Cut could do the job. Mostly because Focus Blast doesn't combo with any of Mewtwo's Fast Moves, and as for Psycho Cut, it seems like it could build up energy for Focus Blast. But pretty much, I guess it's seemingly preferred for a Shadow Ball Mewtwo.

Psycho Cut.

Most of your DPS will come from Focus Blast for those select match-ups (Snorlax, Blissey) so you'll want the fast move with the highest EPS. Psycho Cut will also allow you to dodge more easily... not a huge deal for gyms, but it could mean an extra Focus Blast before your Mewtwo hits zero.

As the person above said, if the target is not weak to psychic Type damage you should prioritize Psycho Cut to gain energy faster for your charge moves, and also helps with dodging. Confusion should be used only if it does super effective damage, although psycho cut is not so far away in DPS

Psycho cut is very far away in DPS, to the point where you need an extra FB just to break even with confusion.

Fast TMs are cheap. Try them botg and see how they feel to you.

My first Mewtwo came with Confusion/Focus Blast and I tried it for a while. Confusion felt like it was taking too long to use Focus Blast, so I switched. Sure Psycho Cut charges faster, but now I felt like I was often wasting Focus Blast on nearly dead opponents, yet Psycho Cut's DPS is too low to finish those opponents. I switched back to Confusion and could see some advantages I didn't notice the first time.

Confusion's high DPS is still reliable to finish off an opponent. Also, prior to Gardevoir, the main anti-fighting pokemon were neutral or weak to psychic. The dual typing allow Confusion to be used against a fighting-resistant defender placed between two fighting-weak defenders, and another Focus Blast will be ready when the next fight starts.

Meteor smash Metegross is too good as a gym attacker that there is really no need for Mewtwo or Machamp. Sure Metagross is a little slower but he goes through other defender like butter.

Focus blast main weakness is a single bar move. Over kill on low motivation gyms. Mewtwo will have will have 45% health remaining.

Machamp after beating Blissey only has 18% health remaining. Metagross can beat Blissey with 62% health still remaining. That’s enough to beat multiple defenders if not if not all remaining defenders.

It's simply a question of whether you dodge or not. Psycho cut is way easier to dodge with, and dodging can allow the Mewtwo to survive much longer.

If you don't dodge, confusion does much higher damage in the same amount of time.

Personally, I dodge in gym battles, prioritizing survivability over DPS, so I prefer psycho cut on my FB Mewtwo.
