How far should MM Metagross be powered up?
Hello all,
I didn’t have too much luck with Beldums today in terms of IV. But I was able to evolve 5 today. Two 83’s, an 84, and a 90. I don’t believe any are maxing material but should I just give them all the standard power up to level 30 treatment?
Thanks

A great number of people will have similar questions as the OP, whether they voice those ?s or not.
I have a great lucky 98% at level 23...should I aim to take that to any particular level (35?). Then I have 6 other acceptable IV ones that were evolved (a shiny with 15 attack and it has good D/S too).
The gist, is a level 30 Metagross a good enough performer (or a potential specialist) to bother with a making a 35 and bumping 2 or 3 others to level 30. Or just try to get one to 40. Or two to 35?
If you have the stardust and candy, I would power up your 98% to level 40. I maxed out my shiny 96% and my regular 98%. It will have no foreseeable competition in steel attacks and may be the best gym generalist now when factoring in typing and bulk.
When the right raid comes along, I will power up 4 others to level 30 or 35 to make a full team. I evolved a total of 9, 6 for my own team, 1 shiny to guarantee lucky trade to my GF since she missed CD for work, and 2 others for future trade fodder.
Thanks for the input, I evolved an extra 1 or 2 (plus I ran out of pinap berries), so I lack the candy. I will set out for the big max project though, I was on a maxing binge a couple months ago. That has slowed, but this Metagross has generalist competition, I have two max Kyogre, 3 maxed Shadowball Mewtwo, max Salamence, 3 maxed Dragonite, 2 Rayquaza at 3550, etc. I know it is good, but I do need to make a great one
MM Metagross makes a fantastic generalist and Steel specialist. Not sure if we're ever going to need large squads of them like with TTars or Mewtwos, but a generalist usually needs to be powered up to the tippy-top to compete with other options.
I recommend maxing just one for now. Having multiple at level 30 is only really a good option if a raid comes out that requires it to counter, or if you just want some more gym-defending Pokemon.
I had a lousy day. 3 hours. Zero top tier catches. Best catches were a 78% with 14a, level 28, and a 71% level 25 with 15a. Best pre-event hatch was am 87% 13/13/13. Evolved those three, plus a 51% level 29 Shiny. The 87%, 78% and shiny are now at level 30. 71% is still at level 25. Still have about 250 candies for future use... :-(

Or wait until you actually need them. I maxed a lucky 98% shiny and a lucky 98% regular right away because I have the resources and "lucky" basically means 2x1. Do you have the resources to spare? Of you had to think twice about it it then you probably don't. Wait until there's a raid boss in which MMM becomes the best counter for and decide then if you want to make that investment. Right now you won't get much use out of it, probably...
