Gen 4 ideas
Everyone keeps asking about when they will do the CP rebalance. I would think after Mewtwo is gone, so that the new raid boss will have the new CP rebalance and it wouldn’t change Mewtwo’s stats during raids.
Also, I was thinking about this the other day. I think they should get rid of the fog weather. It is very rare, usually only in the mornings in certain areas, and not something people run into a lot. Where I live I don’t get snow, so I don’t care whether they take fog away or not, however I think they should replace it with weather we already have: clear (night). Sunny and clear should be different whether, sunny is during the day and clear would be at night. Right now it doesn’t make sense that Fire and Grass are boosted in clear weather at night, they should be related to sunlight. So clear weather at night should buff Ghost/Dark. What are your thoughts on this?

Weather system has always been strange to me. You can double up on Pokemon type and x2 effectiveness but you can't double up on weather. I think it is a great idea for Fog/Night for Ghost and Dark. I think they could also incorporate temperature to the Ice/Steel. So if it is snowing and it's 20 degrees x2 effect for Ice/Steel. that way desert dwellers get a bonus as well during the winter time that see no snow but is still cold. Summer weather x2 for fire/grass/ground when its hot and clear and so on.
In total agreement. Pogo doesn't have to try & match the weather forecast, who quite often get it wrong themselves. A user friendly weather system that loosely mimics the weather outside would be much better. I'm in the UK & only seen fog on Go once this year which was only a couple of weeks ago. You guessed it, no fog to be seen outside but some welcome boosted catches all the same.
Disagree about separating clear, but that may be because where I live currently has no shortage of ghosts regardless of time of day.
Is fog the best choice? Possibly not, especially with there being more Dark mon with each generation (while the number of ghosts stays reasonably low). Reconditiong what causes fog/windy/cloudy might be a good call on the back end
I don't think the issue is the weather itself, rather their means of obtaining weather data and rate of updating. To my knowledge, the weather is obtained from AccuWeather and is updated on the hour. As anyone here can likely testify, weather can change pretty rapidly in the span of an hour which has caused discrepancies in the game's reporting of it (cloudy weather despite rain effects present is the most prominent one imo). The first two hours of Larvitar CD in my area were negatively affected by faulty weather reporting, displaying rain in the first hour and cloudy the second despite the fact that IRL it had remained partly cloudy and dry throughout.
I think the system needs revision to better detect the current weather instead of breaking up the current possible weathers. Relegating particular types to night time would effectively screw over any chance of them becoming weather boosted in raids in certain areas as well.
I doubt Niantic have the resources to invest in a better weather detection system. If they did, I would rather they fix the most significant glitches and introduce an official raid map.
Snow may be common for the USA, Europe and Japan in certain months, but simply does not exist in many areas where the game is just as popular.
I think that's a great idea. I know weather types vary a lot around the world, and I could be wrong, but I don't think mist/fog is much more than a rarity anywhere in the world. Certainly here (Sweden) I've only ever seen it once since they added the weather system. Making "clear (night)" distinct from sunny, and making it boost dark/ghost types, makes all kinds of sense to me.
