Empoleon -- only one fast move?

Is this right? Empoleon only gets metal claw? How on earth does a water starter not get a water type fast move? And only one fast move at that? Is this a mistake?

It does seem a bit disappointing. Empoleon's base attack stat is kind of low, but it's the highest of the water starters in the game so with a water fast move, the eventual CD and Hydro Cannon would've made it really good.

I assume it will get a new fast move soon, otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever.

Calcy lists it as also getting waterfall.

I'm interested what their source is. Was the original moveset dump just mistaken that it only had one fast move?

Niantic has to outdo their horrible move choices for Gen3 pokemon. Every generation seems to get worse.

It has waterfall and is actually a bit better than Vaporeon because of extra resistances.

"Better" is subjective. The added resistance to rock is especially nice, the added weakness to fighting, weakness to ground sucks. The neutral damage from fire is unfortunate.
