Arcainine power up

Arcanine 1689 CP with 96% IVs with FF/Flamethrower. It's 60k stardust to max to around 2200 CP. Since after the CP nerf and Rhydon and Vapor getting buffed, is it worth saving my stardust for him or should I use it somewhere else????

Level 30 should get him above 2400cp with those IVs. Obviously not as useful since the nerf, but depending on your area he may still sit high enough in gyms to make it worthwhile.

I live in a pretty rural area so I'm only lvl 27, but 2200-2300 can get me like a 6th-7th placement in most lvl 10 gyms. Thx for the reply

Oh got it. Also depends if you have another big fire mon for offense. Your Arcanine will perform both roles nicely.

I don't think it would be an awful investment, but if it were me I would hold off. But I only really have like 6 pokes total that I invest dust in.

As Gobbles said, it depends on whether you have another strong fire-type attacker or not.

If you do, then it's probably not necessary to max Arcanine in the current meta, as grass defenders are few and Vaporeons and Rhydons are many. This doesn't mean that maxing it is wrong, though - it's a strong mon and investing in it is not a waste in any case.

If you don't have another strong fire-type, then it's probably worth it to max Arcanine because it will demolish the grass types you do meet.

I wouldn't max it only to use on defense. Its CP is not huge and it's run over by many common attackers. No double weakness though.

Arcanine is a better fire attacker than Moltres (bc of Ember), and Vaporeon has a higher CP max than Suicune. That's how fucked up this game is.

This is the good "defense" moveset for Arcanine, but he sucks at defense. I wouldn't bother. If this guy were Bite + FB or Flamethrower then it would be more worthwhile as a niche attacker vs. Lapras, but I don't see much use for this moveset.
