Since more and more rumours start spreading that PvP comes rather sooner than later (Niantic said it will be before the end of this year). Which mons will be best at PvP? Personally, I think that mons with high base power fast moves paired with fast charge moves will be the best at PvP (like Exeggutpr with C/SeB or Dragonite with DT/DC). Both legacy, I know.

Any thoughts?

If it's the same battle system as we have now, slow fast moves and fast charge moves are probably going to be the preference. Slow charges like Outrage, Shadow Ball, Solar Beam etc. will be completely worthless because the opponent can dodge them easily.

Other interesting factors would be whether it's DPS or TDO-centric and how switching works. The PvP tierlists would look very different depending on how it is. Regardless, I'm not too optimistic about the whole thing if they don't introduce any new complexity to the battle system. A tapfest to compete in which one deals damage faster or several minutes of Blisseys, Lugias, Ho-Ohs trying to outlive each other both sound to me like I want nothing to do with it.

If they have the same battle system as now, it will be almost entirely a case of who has the biggest sword. There's almost no potential for strategy, so whoever has the biggest CP pokemon and the most blisseys is going to win every time.

Sadly i wouldn't put it past Niantic to allow such a scenario. im

I expect at the very least PvP will have a species clause, a restriction to only one of each pokemon with the same pokedex number. So you would have to at least diversify your annoying pokemon. Plus if there is a time limit, that might remove Blissey as a worthwhile choice.

I disagree, in the current battle system you would want dodgability and bulk above all other. This translate to a fast quick move and a fast Charge move. Pokemon like L/BS snorlax, DB/DC Dragonite/latios, WG/AT vape will be monsters.

I'd like it if the selection of your team was somewhat random, to offset some of what someone above called "whoever has the biggest sword wins".

For example, they could have the players set up 5-6 teams, but the 5-6 teams had to be made up of 30-36 distinct pokemon (no repeats). Then, when the player entered a PvP battle, one of these 5 teams is randomly selected. It would force you to spread your best pokemon around, would prevent people from making teams of 6 blisseys, wouldn't waste time waiting for someone to select a team, and even if you only battled with a few people, it would make that somewhat unpredictable

I think Blissey is going ot be the best for PVP, if its anything like any kind of battling game against other players, survival's the most important thing, and Blissey can largely one for two/one and a half even machamp. I expect tankier pokemon will be better for this

They did not say it will be before the end of the year. Read the quote again.
