Any reason to keep evolution items?

I'm sitting on close to a dozen dragon scales, metal coats, and upgrades. Any reason to keep them all? I've only used one dragon scale and upgrade, and something like 3 metal coats... Figure I'll keep a couple, but before I tossed a bunch I'd see if they got any use in the next Gen or something...

I just keep 5 of each in case I stumble upon a 100iv pokemon that needs one of those evolutionary items to evolve. Any more is excessive...

Even 5 is excessive in my book. Keep 2

If that is your cup of tea... by all means :)

Discard all your dragon scales, except maybe one.
Keep only a few of the rest, like 2...

Only sun stone has another use on gen 5 (cottonee and petillil) and gen 6 (helioptile)

You can use Dragon Scales to work on the Dragon medal if you have access to Horsea candies. A small niche, but it is there and might be useful to some people.

I was going to get rid of most of mine seeing as we won't have much use for them for quite some time (don't think we need any for Gen 4), but when we started getting so many from those research tasks this summer I started to wonder if Niantic perhaps will make us use items for Gen4 evolutions anyway.

I am probably wrong, but I might still hold onto them a while longer.

Although....I get the "you bag is full" all the time, so getting rid of some of my 82 evolution items wouldn't be too bad ;)
