Is this a new bug/glitch with collecting stamp and daily catch?
It is now close to 1am so new day, completed task and caught Pokemon which should stamp Oct 2nd and give me my 2nd day catch streak but it did neither...anyone else notice this at all?

It's not a new glitch, it's as old as research tasks (April).
When it is a new day and you have not yet gotten a stamp, there will be a solid circle around the place where the next stamp will go. Then when you complete a task, the stamp fills this circle.
If the circle is not there, when you complete a task, it will not give you a stamp. For whatever reason the game is not recognizing a new day.
The solution is simple, always make sure the circle is there before claiming your research. You will have to do another research for today.
