Shadow Ball Mewtwo

So, my best Ex Mewtwo is a 89%, 15 atk 2247 cp! Today I got a lucky 96%, 14 atk 14def and 15 sta!! Question is simple... Sacrifice 1 point in atk and save 110k dust (I have almost 4 million) or power up the 15 atk?! I only have 169 candies!

It's really a no-brainer. Power up the 15 attack. Why the hell are you worried about 110K stardust when you have 4 million?

If you have 4 million stardust it means you either never power anything up, in which case that's a bigger question. Or you're more of a collector than a player. My wife has over 4 million stardust. She just plays to collect. She doesn't care about IV or anything. ....She has a 98% Mewtwo with shadowball. I maxed it out for her. At 4 million stardust it wasn't even a question I asked myself much less anyone else.

Remember, candy is EASY to get. Just do raids. There are very few scarce resources in the game anymore. Stardust is probably the only resource that's prohibitive. And even that is available if you grind.

Is your lucky 96% also shadowball?

I have 4 lucky shadowball mewtwo. I'll be powering all of them up to level 40. My second one 92% and is at level 39. I have about 40,000 stardust.

It’s a shadowball Mewtwo with 2262 CP... I have 98 maxed out Pokémon, almost at 100k catches. I just can’t do Mewtwo raids everyday (almost rural for gyms but good stops if lured)! That’s why candies aren’t easy to get... So 89 wins?

If it were me, I'd do the 96 without hesitation. What kind of breakpoint would you be trying to hit with that one extra attack?

I have a 96% non-lucky (14a) and a 91% lucky (15a), both with Shadow Ball (both maxed), and I have found no matchups where there's a breakpoint miss with the 96. According to Poke Genie, even the Shadow Ball does the exact same damage to both Mewtwo and Deoxys at that level.

96% no doubt. Losing one attack won't hurt. Congrats on the nice Mewtwos! Wish I could have that 96 :).

You have to understand that when you post a question on here, you are going to get a few intelligent responses buried among lot of bad advice from people who don't know what they are talking about. So, try to educate yourself about how IV's work, and when they make a difference, and come to your own conclusion.

Mewtwo has a base attack stat of 300. That means the 14A Mewtwo has an attack stat of 314, as opposed to a perfect 315. Do you realize how insignificant that is? Even forgetting about the fact that the 96% is lucky, the only valid argument for choosing the 89% one is if the 15A allows the Mewtwo to reach some breakpoint (against some particular pokemon or raid boss) at level 40 that cannot be reached by the 14A Mewtwo. The odds of this scenario occurring for any relevant defender or boss are extremely remote.

Realistically, there is going to be no practical difference between the two, but if you are going to pick one, pick the 96%.

Normally I'd say power up the 96%, since the attack IV for Mewtwo is mostly meaningless given it's tremendously high base attack power.

However, if your 89% Mewtwo has Shadow Ball, then I'd pick that one over the 96% you got recently with the new movesets. Even if the IVs aren't quite as stellar. Shadow Ball Mewtwo is just that good. If the 89% doesn't have Shadow Ball, then I'd do the 96%.
