Alakazam finally goes down!

Stardust spent and Pokemon gained finally met up with opportunity today as I FINALLY ran into an Alakazam raid. Like many others, Alakazam has long been my nemesis, spending many raid passes only to lose in every imaginable way. However, today was my day! I had actually managed to solo Alakazam 3 times prior, but all 3 times were weather boosted (twice in windy weather with dragon assistance and once in fog).

Today, it was rainy, but I resisted the urge to use Pinsir and Scizor. Alakazam had C/SB and I used a team of level 40 Mewtwo, Gengar, Tyranitar and Houndoom, plus 2 more Tyranitar at level 35ish. I dodged a couple Shadow Balls and finished with time to spare.

Now they just need to bring Claydol back....

I salute you, sir! Alakazam is a serieus challange, because you need to strategically dodge every now and then.

Claydol isn't too hard. 2 high level kyogress + 1 Gyarados will do the job regardless. Just find the last breakpoints and you should be good.

Yes, when Claydol was around last time I had one Gengar ready to go, but I was just a few candies short on my kyogre. Now I have a maxed Kyogre and 2 maxed SC Gengar. If it comes back, I'll be ready.

That's exactly why I would say Claydol is very hard, you need multiple high level Kyogres to make the solo reliable, or a ton of SC Gengars. I personally only have 1 of each so I only had maybe 50% chance of beating the raid whenever I went for it.
Alakazam is much easier since you can beat all movesets by throwing level 30+ Hex Gengars and Tyranitars at it and if you go to higher levels, there's a dozen viable counters instead of 2.

Congratulations. Alakazam is always challenging and fun, and that is one of the more difficult movesets. I never get tired of soloing Alakazam, and it remains my favorite T3 raid boss. I wish they make it permanent.

I never did Claydol, but I imagine it's similar to Ninetales: put in the right counters powered up to the right levels, and just spam away, with no risk of having your initial team knocked out. I did Ninetales on the first try, and never felt the desire to do it again. The bosses that hit back hard, even if they have lower defense, are more fun and interesting, IMO.

Congratulations! Using Mewtwo and Gengar against C/SB is a ballsy move for sure.

Highly recommend doing C/FB as well. It feels quite different when your Tyras aren't safe anymore and you need to pay attention while they're out there.

I was able to do C/FB a couple weeks ago, but it was foggy, so I was able to win with about 45 seconds to spare. I definitely want to try it unboosted!

I'm awed by the fact that you're able to find foggy weather. Hope you luck in finding the moveset in a neutral weather, although it's certainly also fun to do it in windy when Confusion hits like a literal truck.
