Burn Pass
In this kanto event, whats your go to pass burning raids? (Ie tier 3 or lower) Because this events really got a lot of great pickings.
Personally i've gone for dratini (haven't had the time to raid the birds yesterday or today, had my pass from yesterday). I'm glad niantics added some better tier 1,2, and 3's that are also easy to solo, it doesnt make me feel like I just wasted a pass on rewards but actually got a good pokemon out of it. I hope they continue to do this in the future so theres a legitimate reason to not always go for alolan marrowack or a not good legendary for the raid items when its the only tier 4 appearing for some reason but go for the lower tiers for less good raid items, but a better pokemon over all.

Been doing this since Registeel (took me a bit to really get that the Regis are garbage, and not hang with friends while doing tier 5 raids), catching Kirlia, Alolan Eggy, Tangela, and the odd Alolan Raichu. Much more variety now, although sad to think that Kirlia is probably gone - the almost guaranteed 11 Ralts candy was a good reward for the easy raid - even weather buffed, a single strong PC/SB Mewtwo was enough.
Might do a Dratini now and then, also Magneton, Tangela, Magmar and Electabuzz, so prepping for Gen4. Hope Piloswine comes back after the Kanto event - could be good both as ground and ice in G4, and I was lucky enough to get one perfect one on a raid - although the route to get good ones now is probably to trade Swinubs back and forth until one gets lucky, or trade a Swinub for a very old Rhyhorn/Rhydon, and then do the same trade the other way.
In no particular order;
- Dratini
- Electabuzz
- Magneton
- Aerodactyl
- Tangela
If I want a challenge:
- Hitmonchan
- Hitmonlee
- Alakazam
Fallback if nothing else is around:
- Machamp
I could never solo the Hitmons or Alakazam before now, I'd like to try it again. The odd Aerodactyl is purely for shiny chance, if I get one I'll stop raiding them. Machamp as a last resort option because it's an easy raid; the only reason it's not higher is because I have over 1k Machop candy compared to double digits amounts of some others.
Missed Hitmons when they first came as raid boss and would like to try. Also failed to beat Alakazam last year so also want to give it a shot. Dratini is good, although I have ~850 candy but still could go for a shiny/perfect hunt. Already have a shiny Aerodactyl so I will pass it. Tangela/Magneton/Electabuzz are good for Gen 4 preparation (I would say Gen 4 is really really close after Johto and Kanto events). Would like to go for a Lapras/Snorlax when weather is on our side as their candy are really precious.
From what I remember, Hitmonchan doesn't really hit super hard, just hard enough to jeopardize your chances if you're underprepared. Also it's a lot bulkier than Machamp, hitting some of those higher breakpoints is crucial.
I omitted the T4's for the scope of OP's question but yeah, I'd do a Lapras if I had 2-3 others interested too. I have a lucky Ice Beam Lapras I'm working on maxing and don't have candy to go all the way. Then again they've been relatively common with this event (3 wild yesterday), by event's end I may not be hurting too bad after all.
Although Lapras is not the Ice King any more after Legendary first came out, I personally still like it a lot mainly because it's Ash's buddy in the episodes in Gen 1. I have a double legacy Lapras (Ice Shard + Ice beam) which is on its level 38.5 (ADS 141115), and another at level 28 iv 96 with FB + HP. The double legacy Lapras may not be ideal on offensive purpose so I'd like to power up the 2nd given enough candy.
Any tier 3 boss I haven't recorded beating with the unique team this rotation yet. Did Machamp and Scyther today so the 6 others are all eligible.
Once they're all done, my preference will be Alakazam > Scyther > Zapdos > Dratini > anything else, heavily favoring any raid at project gyms and any raid that is the most convenient for me.
