Gift Eggs

Are the contents generated when you open the gift (when you receive the egg)? Or when the sending player spins the stop and gets the gift?

I want those 7km regionals, so want to check if I should save gifts from now or just keep opening them for fresh gifts from after the 13th.

The contents of an egg (species/IV/cosmetics/shiny) are determined upon the date of receiving it, not the time of hatch. This is how people end up hatching hat Pichu well after various events end.

If you want the regionals I'd wait until the event goes live before receiving 7k eggs.

Yeah I know it's not the time of hatch, but is the "date of receiving it" when the sender spins a stop and gets the gift or when I open the gift and get the egg?
