It used to be so simple.

You had your attacker, defender, and Atk IV.

Now you have weather and friend bonuses. Which brings the question: which Pokémon need that 15 ATK to hit a final breakpoint at 40, now that it could be an extra one based on weather or variable based on friendship?

I know RT Golem in neutral with no friends does for Ho-oh + Moltres, but what else have people discovered?

I'll be honest, I stopped obsessing over breakpoints when friend bonuses were introduced. Unless I know I'm going to reach a particular friendship breakpoint or I'm soloing something I don't bother. It's much easier to score double digits with balls now, even without gym control.

There is a simple solution to all your points.

Power up your best mons to the max. End of story.

The whole point (heh) of breakpoints is to save candy and stardust on the last power ups which are the most expensive, when they are useless or almost useless. But of course if you are that kind of player with 2M stardust, 300+ candy for all pokemon and 500+ rare candy, that's a moot point. I'm not in this situation, thus I care about breakpoints. Though only for solo raids: as said with friends bonus you never know what will be your attack in the next raid with teammates anyway, and in addition my local community is not very keen on short manning so breakpoints against legendaries would make little difference.

Breloom, no weather, with best friend bonus and 15 attack hits a counter break point against ttar I think it was.

(It hits a level 40 15 attack breakpoint that machamp can't, can't remember if there was weather or ultra/best friends though).
