Why not both? I tend to farm dust in an area that has a good density of spawns and stops. Usually, I'll manually spin stops, let the Go+ catch most of the things, and I'll manually catch wild evolved Mons (that are likely going to run if I let the Go+ try for them). Once my bag starts to get full, I'll start dumping berries into gyms while my Go+ continues catching things.

Feeding berries to one pokemon is equivalent to two normal catches and takes 20 seconds at most, it's pretty good dust gain for time spent. It's also rare that you can catch for 30 minutes straight so feeding is a nice way to fill the gaps.
