Do shiny pokemon still sparkle before encounter?

I heard there's a glitch that shinies don't sparkle before encounter anymore. Is that true? Is this cuz of the update or is it fixed now? I feel like I've passed up on a couple shiny sunkerns and plusles since I was always looking for the sparkle...

What do you mean "don't sparkle before encounter"? Only when you click on a pokemon will you know if it's shiny or not. And it has been this way since release.

I'm pretty sure the OP is referencing the new "camera swivel" animation that came with the update that happens whenever you encounter a wild Mon. Because of it, you won't see the sparkle animation when you encounter a shiny.

I'm really hoping it's a glitch that Niantic intends to fix sometime soon.

I meant after you click the pokemon, shinies used to sparkle right when you encounter them.

There is a camera bug right now. Shinies you encounter in the wild do not sparkly because of it.

Yup, it's the camera swivel that seems to obscure the shiny animation. Very annoying, not only for the potential to miss out on shinies.

The good news is that's it's been officially acknowledged as an issue: https://support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001898127-Excessive-animation-when-encounter-wild-Pok%C3%A9mon

If you're on iOS, you can apparently get around it by disabling AR+ but there are no temporary fixes for those on Android.

No sparkle, almost missed a shiny Sunkern because of it.

It's bugged right now. You'd be safest catching every Sunkern and Plusle you come across instead of just shiny checking until they fix it.
