What's with all this friending stuff? Scam?

Does anybody know what's up with all of these people sending out their trainer codes. Is this some kind of scam? I only have 6 friends, and they're all in Minneapolis (I'm in Flagstaff, Arizona), so if this isn't a scam, I feel like I could benefit from adding friends... I'm just a little wary of stuff like this.

It's not a scam. More friends=More gifts and XP.

There’s not really any way it could be a scam. Personally I’ve only added a few people I don’t know. I’ve added mostly people from various raid groups in my area and the area I grew up, as well as some friends from other games that live in other countries.

Alright, well in that case, my trainer code is:

0245 1858 4748

If anybody is interested.

Aldo eggs from overseas bare the location of were the gift was collected meaning you can jse them to get distance for your pilots medal faster

As long as you don't share personal information as your trainer name or buddy name, there's no way there can be any scam. It's free xp and items for both, as well as potentially alolan eggs with a lot of distance.

Gifts indicate which stop they are from, so I always delete gifts from stops that are too near to my home or work address and never send gifts that I had just picked up.

True enough, although since they can't link your IGN to your real identity unless they know you IRL or you revealed that information somewhere publicly, no one can really do anything with the information about where you play.

It's a little bit annoying to see all this "add me" stuff but no scam.
From experience I can say that putting the trainer code in the profile is enough. Get like 10 requests a day.

However, this is really bad about the gamepress site. If they would sort the threads on last answer (like every forum does) it wouldnt be such a mess...
