EX Pass Sharing

Just saw a rumor that there will possibly be a way to share EX Raid Passes. The rumor is because of code found, reading:
+.ACTIVITY_SHARE_EX_RAID_PASS

+.get_HasSharedExPass
+.set_HasSharedExPass

UPDATE: Apparently the code has an option to Accept or Deny the EX Pass, so it looks like it’s actually going to be sharing the pass. Rumored to be allowing you to bring a +1 to the EX Raid.

What does everyone think about this? I think it’ll be nice, if someone can’t make their EX raid because of work etc. they can possibly give it to someone else who can. Although it opens up the option of people selling passes, which I don’t like.

I think it's more about bragging to your friends that you got an EX pass. But we'll see.

I didn’t even think about that, that makes more sense lol.

Apparently there is also a Decline Shared Pass attribute. This will make no sense in just bragging the ex pass. It actually sounds like we can will be able to share passes.

Maybe it's a way to raid for someone without needing their direct account? Niantic has to know that people pass of their accounts to one another all the time to make these things.

The "Facebook-Twatter-etc" share makes the most sense.
Another option would be to know which friends "share" the same Ex raid as you. I know thats not it but I thought about it because of the the wording in the get and set.

I was hoping that it would be a way to give an EX pass to someone else if you can’t attend. I’ve missed the last 4 or 5 because they’ve been in the middle of my work week. I hate for them to go to waste. But I don’t see that happening. It introduces too much risk of abuse (selling).

So I’m convinced it means that the invite notification will include Share and Don’t Share options that determine whether you announce you got one. Probably on your trainer screen.

They could just tie it in with friendship levels so that you won’t be able to sell it to some random guy because you won’t have enough time to reach said friendship status(like ultra friend/best friend only)

This may also be a way to help when not enough show up for Ex raid. Last raid on Labor Day Sunday and only 4 showed up. Spent 45 mins and unable to beat Mewtwo. If we could share we could have ensured 8 and been able to win raid. This could help rural areas too where it is hard to get enough players on ex raid days. Especially if it is in work days or middle of 3 day holiday
