CD Eevees as defenders

- I believe that as attackers, they are better as specialists within their elements.

- However, I am wondering how much better would the more bulky ones perform as defenders (Vaporeon and Umbreon), if they have Last Resort (assuming it is a clone of moves like Hydro Cannon).
* Umbreon would have a non-dark attack, which makes it more threatening against fighting pokemons.
* Similar logic for Vaporeon against plants.

Would the improvement be substantial? Any chance they could make it into the Gym Defenders Tier List?

They already are in the defender tier lists, but this will make them better

No. Slowing the attacker is more relevant than dealing damage to them, so LR is a small upgrade at best. Espeon is also used as a Machamp deterrent sometimes and I think LR might be better on it for defense, simply because of how awfully slow Psybeam is.

A note on their role as specialist attackers. IF LR is a clone of HC, it's Espeon's best charge move in partly cloudy against targets weak to psychic. FS is that mediocre.

You could say it’s that mediocre or that Last Resort could be THAT good. Future Sight on a Mewtwo would put him in a class of his own as a psychic attacker compared to being nearly edged out by Alakazam. Neutral damage topping a stab/SE move? On another level

I was referring to the fact that boosted HC copy of Last Resort didn't even come close to being the best charge move for any of the others. OH, TB and HP are all good charge moves, FS is not.

And yeah. HC is the best charge move in the game by a large margin. No news there.

I think this will depend on how hard the move is to dodge. If it's hard to dodge, they could be a better defender. The main problem is defending is pointless without GR feeding.

It was reported on my local Discord group that Last Resort is 2 bars, 90dmg, 2.9s move duration, dw at 2.7s.

So it sounds like it will be decent damage wise, but not great and fairly easy to dodge.

This might be an upgrade for Umbreon as a gym defender, as it will allow it to hit some of it's counters for neutral damage. I'm not sure it will do much for Vaporeon though, since AT/HP are both significantly more difficult to dodge when compared to LR, and an undodged NVE attack outputs more damage to an attacker than a dodged neutral attack.
