Do you max a Pokemon if/when “you suddenly feel like doing it”?
I just maxed a Rhydon because I suddenly felt like doing it.
I have wanted to do it for a long, long time (all the way back to the old gym system), but just couldn’t do it for various reasons. But now, with Rhyperior coming soon, I thought, why not just do it now?
Have you ever suddenly felt like maxing a mon, and did you actually max it in the end?

Im not lvel 40, unless maxing means taking it to the highest level you possibly can for your level, then yes, i've done ither 3 pokemon,
My first, and favorite Tyranitar, she was my first catch after a week of raid fails, 98% iv's
My perfect level 1 magikarp just because that was a story too good not to tell people
And lastly my perfect machamp, for making me realize that no, machamp wasnt as trash as I thought
I feel maxing that rhydon was a good choice, i'd do the same if I had the dust for it
Cool. My first Ttar was also a 98%, on my first Ttar raid. Haven't come close since. He's sitting at level 40 with B/C.
The Karp must have been a lot of candy and dust. Did you keep it as a Karp, or evolve it?
"my perfect machamp, for making me realize that no, machamp wasnt as trash as I thought."
Cue chorus of angels singing "Halleluja"! My best are 98% and 96%, both missing a little Defense.
Keep powering them up as you level up.
I've only maxed 2 things, a Rayquaza and SC Gengar. The first was mostly for vanity because Ray is one of my top 2 favorite legendaries and SC Gengar because I wanted to squeeze as much as I could out of it.
I don't normally max things on a whim largely due to the stardust cost involved. If I max something it's either for something I actually want the highest possible performance out of (as in, beyond the last fast move breakpoint) or it's a vanity thing. I bagged a 98% shiny Zapdos that I'd love to max, but it's hard to justify it without an immediate need for electric types.
My first MewTwo, its only 84iv, Atk 12.
But i got it at the second wave of MewTwo in my country back in 2017. And at that time it is very2 hard to get EX invite
I used to Troll (for a joke) in my group whenever someone show off their hundo, shiny, etc by show my max out mewtwo and said " Damn you are all lucky, i only have this" lol
Absolutely I do, it's a big part of the fun of the game for me. Sometimes I've justified it with some excuse like "my SC Gengar will perform marginally better against Claydol and I need all the help I can get in that raid", but a lot of maxing to me is that I simply like seeing my best mons at their fullest potential. It's addicting.
Oh yes. I have a 100% Gyarados that got maxed after getting Waterfall even though there was an obvious better Pokémon coming soon. I also maxed my 89% shiny SD Tyranitar instead of a 98% one because of reasons.
My SC Gengar with 15A, my first 15A Machamp... and yes, my less than useful Black Charizard, 62%, no regrets. I love to see it on screen.
