Eevee Next Community Day!

So does this event signify that trading isn't taking off as much as they expected, and they need to do something to jump start it?
"Dude, I caught 10 Shinies, then I evolved them all and didn't get a single Jolteon!"
"Brah, I caught 8 Shinies and ONLY got Jolteon! Wanna trade?"
"Dude... yeah! LET'S DO THIS!"
"Cool Brah! Yeah VAPOREON SHINY!!"
"Hey Buddy, did I hear you got ONLY Jolteons? Wanna trade for a Flareon tomorrow?"
"Brah no way! Yeah!"
"Dude!"
"Brah!"
"Hey Buddy!"
I'm certainly waiting on the main trading until then. But how many people will be willing to wait another 60 days before they can trade for that Shiny Eevolution that they didn't get on Eevee day? I think there might be a few trade-and-regret trades done by the end of Eevee day.
(My post wasn't inspired by Tales from the Borderlands directly as I don't know what that is, but I'd bet that TftB and my post have many of the same sources of inspiration if they're similar enough for you to make that connection. :) )
At a base of 1 million dust i doubt it. When Eevee day rolls around people will at best only have ultra friends status, where new shinies cost 80k to trade. Even with the event being triple dust (and moreso if you got star pieces), that's a lot of dust to spend on a vanity trade.
I couldn't tell you what their source of inspiration was, but there's a whole segment where two guys are saying "bro" back and forth. You could probably find it on YouTube if you're curious enough ("Tales from the Borderlands bro scene" would likely find it).
Me too. But now that we have trading, there isn't nearly the incentive for Niantic to find ways to make sure anyone can turn a Shiny into any of the Eevolutions.
So while I'm crossing my fingers that we're going to get "Choose your Eevolution!" as the "Special Move" for Community day, I'm expecting that we're going to get "Hidden Power" as the "Special Move" (really, what else could any Eevolution have?) and you have to take your chances on what you Eevolve.
(though part of me is hoping that this is going to be how they introduce Gen 4 - that we are going to get Glaceon and Leafeon on Community Day, and the roll out of Gen 4 will start once the Eevee days are done.)
Sounds like just a strong normal type move for Eevee. Some potential choices: Take Down (fast move in dire need of a buff), Double-Edge (possible strong two-bar charge move), and Last Resort (possible ridiculous one-bar charge move)
Nothing would make Eevee a viable attacker, obviously, but would just be a fun collectible.
Assuming there is no change to evolution mechanics, it would be quite welcome change to not need to figure out what we need to evolve during the 3hr window.
Well the curveball has officially been thrown. Does this open the floodgates for anything to get a Community Day? Is this simply more marketing for LGPE and September will return to our regularly scheduled programming? Time will answer that.
In the meantime, what are your hopes/wishes for how other aspects of Eevee day are handled?
- Research tasks should give Eeveelution encounters with possible shiny, yay/nay?
- Some way to pick and choose what Eevee evolves into would be nice.
- Will the evolutions get a signature move? The message only mentions Eevee getting one.
Also a reminder to the unaware that 9 shiny is the target. Across 2 days this (hopefully) should be obtainable.
I was thinking how many shinies you need for the gen 1 eeveelutions if they don't give us a new way to force their evolutions.
The likelihood of missing 2 gets very small when you evolve a bunch. Evolving 4 Eevees only has 1,2% chance of getting the same one four times, but there's still a 20% chance that you missed one. Evolving 6 randomly produces more than a 90% probability of getting all of them so that seems like a good number to go for. 10 random evolutions would give more than 98% odds to get all of them.
What they should do is just make it so any Eevee with the signature move will guarantee its evolution will learn their signature move. I'm assuming Eevee in between the two windows will be regular Eevee, meaning Umbreon likely wouldn't learn a special move without the condition described earlier. This is realistically the only way Umbreon doesn't get shafted, unless they let us just choose an Eeveelution regardless of met requirements.
