This shit need to stop! Why are they continiously pissing on our investments?! This is not a case of powering up 6 pokemon then lose relevancy by buffing another! It`s about the pokemon receiving buffs only on new catches and ignoring the previous caught ones I mean WTF!!!!!
Although Raikou had better moves then Zapdos I chose to max Zapdos on personal preference alone and hoped 1 day a move rebalance or addition will happen. I have over 9k wins on my bird and now what? I don`t want a dozen copies. Why do I have to not only pay all over the stardust and candy to max 1 out and also lose the acomplishments and memories of my original.... I`m starting to really hate this game and the direction they are going...

You have to think of it like this, there is Pokémon Go version 1 which was pre-raids. Then version 2, which was pre-community day. Then version 3, which is what we have now.

For version 2 they handed out good mons in raids to new players. For version 3 they hand them out by the dozen.

Anything you have in version 1 and 2 still work, just not as well. Powercreep is what makes things go. If you want to stay having the best stuff, you basically have to continue starting over in the next version.

Yes and it's a horrible way to run the game. Considering how much effort (and often money) it takes to max a legendary, the publisher suddenly and without any previous warning taking a leak on that effort doesn't exactly seem like a good idea. I know I feel terrible having wasted resources on my old Zapdos.

I’d say even worse for someone that powered up a research Zapdos, probably a 15 y/o kid getting it from a lower level and/or a rural player searching for Sudo raids for rewards. You at least got to unload 248 rare candy and not hold on to it for 10 months.

the main issue I have is that only lengendaries and a very few others (Blissey, Ttar, Machamp...) matter . they keep reinforcing that. honestly, what possible use is a 100% L35 electrode when I can simply get handed 10 Zapdos in 3 hours of playing?

>implying Electrode is worth using outside of Zapdos

Jokes aside, when you start comparing legends to non-legends candy cost becomes a factor. Even with Zapdos being everywhere you won't catch enough to negate needing rare candies at some point. Meanwhile Jolteon or next gen's Magnezone/Electivire are staring at your reserves of Eevee/Magnemite/Electabuzz candy, waiting.

I have a 3328 Raikou I still use quite a bit, a 3000 Raikou I never use, a 3100 Zapdos that I use less than that, but Jolteon is quite a ways down the list.

Discharge has 3 bars, there are true noobs trying to run 3 and 4 accounts...objectively their top accounts suck. They can’t place anything good in.

I mean, no one is telling you to trash your first one. You don't lose anything just because they released another that's better.

I used to have the second best electric type maxed. After Zapdos day I don't, I have the third best electric type maxed. That is a loss no matter how you look at it. My old Zapdos doesn't become any worse in an absolute manner, but it becomes worse relatively. If I want to again have the second best electric type maxed, I need to invest another 248 rare candy.

Zekrom is 2 generations away and we know in advance it's coming. I made my electric investments expecting them to get outclassed in gen 5. I fail to see your point.

I fail to see yours. So your plans got bumped up earlier than expected, so what? It's not like your current Zapdos hasn't served you well already, or even that it won't should you need it again. Sure it's a little disheartening but it's nothing worth getting full mad over.

This is like when Body Slam Snorlax was announced as the research breakthrough, there was a thread full of people who were FUCKING PISSED about it. It was hilarious then and it's funny now.

So what? My Zapdos got devalued a full year earlier than we had reason to expect and I should just swallow it without feeling bad?
It's exactly as you say, disheartening. I don't play this game to feel disheartened.

I fail to see what's funny about this. To me it looks like Niantic is slowly killing the game because they don't understand mobile gaming and how to properly balance incentives and rewards.

Then quit the game...

But you won’t...

And it actually BECAUSE of powercreeps like these that you won’t. Hardcore players like you (and i am also guilty of being an overgrown child spending too much time on a video game...) are more likely to get bored by stagancy and quit than being pushed. Stop whining and get out there on the 21st and grind that shit. And if you decide to adult, you will still be able to destroy everything because you have a maxed out zapdos which will be just as effective tomorrow as it is today...

Btw, I also maxed out a cb/ tb zap... no regrets. Will likely also max out a ts/ tb one if I don’t have to adult. You know why? Not because I need it for gyms (gyms can be taken out with just about anything) nor raids (we talk about being effective or whatever but I live in a city... I literally just need social media, a sense of timeliness and 6 non-fainted pokemon...) but because the black patch looks sooper cool...

Have fun for God’s sake and stop calling it an “investment “

They should have us beat Regice/Regirock/Registeel and then just pick whatever legendary we want.

Not really a surprise that this is happening but I thought it would be sometime in August. So much for having time to restock on coins and raid passes after using up most of them on Articuno day.

I wish this is the way they did legendary raids in the future. One day a week, all gyms are the legendary, everyone gets a shot. During the week we can do the normal raids. There is no reason for people to wait on groups of people for one raid. This way you have several attempts to beat and capture it.

I just don’t see why Articuno, or even Ho-Oh didn’t get a new move when they came back out. Ho-Oh has the chance to be the best fire attacker and second best flying attacker with the right moves..

Don`t worry Niantic can use that later, they will need to make ppl who never missed Ho-oh be engaged by another return and giving a new move solely to new captures a perfect 3rd release! Niantic is becoming too greedy

While eventually they'd hit a limit with what moves they can use, that's the only part about it that would get irritating after a while. While the birds aren't a good example since we just had them in research boxes, they do need to make the game accessible to new players. Expect re-re-releases and new events featuring legendaries you may have caught a hundred times over to appease players who haven't been playing longer than a few months.

Catchup mechanics are good, but this isn't a catchup event. This is straight-up introducing a better version of what we had before.

Up

I did say the birds wouldn't be the best example of this, but only because we just had them in research boxes. We're closing in on nearly a year since the birds were raid bosses, if it weren't for the boxes it would be less of an issue.

It's a great way to do legendary raids for everyone who has the time to attend but what about all the people who can't fit that specific 3 hours into their schedule?

Up

Nothing, which is terrible already, but at least community days aren't new dex entries. Imagine if your only chance to get a new legendary was 3 hours.

Up

Community Days could be a new dex entry for some. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a wild Mareep post Mareep day.

Up

Down

And I could tell you that I've hatched 6 Mareeps since the community day and caught 2 wild, giving me easily enough candy to evolve an Ampharos. Those pokemon are attainable in some other way, even if they're rare.

Imagine they introduced Kyogre as a 3h exclusive. Raikou. Mewtwo. DT/OR Dialga in the future. Having powerful meta stars limited to such an extremely short window is a horrible idea no matter how you look at it.

You can plan ahead for CD by saving high iv Mons unevolved. You will miss out on extra candy and a good chance of a shiny, but you will still get the move assuming you can log in for 2 min during the 3 hour window.

Of the available fire and flying type fast moves Ho-Oh learns none of them in the main series. I'm still salty Lugia and Ho-Oh never got their signature moves, Aeroblast and Sacred Fire.

Articuno could have gotten Avalanche, but beyond that it already has arguably the best ice type attacks in game. For a similar reason I don't see Moltres getting a new move either.

Up

I remember when they first introduced Lugia and Ho-Oh and people were salty about them not having their signature moves. It was hilarious back then and it's still funny.

That thing you did there, I see it.

The difference between you and me is if they DO do a re-re-release of them - hell, even if it happened this year yet - where they gave them their signature moves I'd be way less mad about it than you are about Zapdos getting Thundershock, or that other thread where legacy snobs were asshurt about their Body Slam Snorlax coming back. In fact it would be pretty nice despite having "invested" in Lugia and Ho-Oh already.
