Less defense = more damage per second?

So, since the more damage a pokemon takes the more energy it gains (right?), which leads to more special moves and therefore more damage... does that mean that a pokemon with 15 attack and 0 defense would have a bigger dps then a 15 attack 15 defense?

What about TDO (total damage output)? A 15/15/15 would survive longer then a 15/0/15 (supposedly) but which one would deal more damage before fainting?

The big point here is that it really does not matter much.

Simulators are also a bit tricky in non-solo raids since they do not take into account energy gain by the boss due to more damage taken, or for that sake, energy wasted due to "overload".

Some extra defense very rarely have much effect when a Groudon Solar beam is hitting you.

Very occasionally a low defense mon might have a small edge. Tested it once against a fire blast Tyranitaur, I borrowed a friends 6x100% account and tapped at the same pace on both. My account had 2 each of 100, 98 and 96%, all with 15 atk, and mostly with lower def.

It turned out my team got off two more DP during the fight, and survivability was not affected. A later test with poke battler gave the same result.

Very rarely there is a difference, going either way, but not much to lose sleep over.
