Who should be my buddy?

I am a level 39 with every meta relevant Mon at really high levels. A few months ago, I hatched a 100 IV Bagon and have been walking it ever since. I already have a maxed Salamence at near perfect IV's. What are the top mons to keep as my buddy since I have no great needs besides rare candy?

I always say when in doubt walk a Chansey. You can never have too many powered up Blissey's.

If defending gyms isn't your thing though than it's really personal preference on whether you want to power up another top attacker or walk Ludicolo so he can make your profile look super cool with his rad dance moves.

If you really don't need candy for anything else then you might as well walk a legendary despite the absurdly high distance.

Or you could just pick one that you think looks good - maybe one of the ones that rides on your shoulder.

Alternatively you could pick something that no one would ever choose just for the novelty value. Maybe a shuckle.

The new Body Slam Snorlaxes are pretty effective, maybe you want to power up one or more of those, so a Snorlax buddy might be a good call right now.

Snorlax? He takes about 25-30 seconds to defeat with a good Machamp. I don't know how effective I'd call that.

Truth

That's 5-10 seconds longer than anything else except Chansey and Blissey takes to defeat with their optimal counters. Snorlax feels fast compared to the top2 normals, but it's still a decent defender compared to anything else.

kind of like saying a beetle is harder to squish than an ant. I mean... I guess it's true.

The difference adds up to minutes when you start GRB feeding. Gym defense is all about making your gym look more time/potion consuming than the next one so coin hunters go there instead of your gym. These small differences are all we have to make that happen.

I know what thats like, not being able to pick a buddy, only my instances were I have too many high tier ones I need to power up.

Go for something that gets a gen IV evolution, or maybe just buddy your favorite pokemon even if the candy wont be of use

Future gen 4 candy could be worth it. I can't bring myself to walk a legendary because I feel locked in for too long.

If you're not walking a legendary, walk a one of the Larv, Pup or Tyranitar. They're always useful.

What's your quantity of meta-relevant mon? For example, I'm walking my 9th Machamp so my B-team for Regiwhatever is deeper.

I have 937 Machop candy so I really don't need any more Machamps. I have 3 maxed and many more above 30. I am thinking that I just keep my bagon going or choose a future gen 4 evolve mixed up with a fun one here and there.
